Used 2023 BMW X1 for Sale nearColumbia, SC

How much does the 2023 BMW X1 cost?

Prices have softened 5.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,046 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X1 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

It stands out as a small luxury crossover that feels more like a polished, sporty SAV than a basic commuter. The standard all-wheel drive and premium interior materials support its upscale feel, while the zippy driving character and useful cargo space make it appealing if you want something practical without giving up personality.

The main trade-offs are that some advanced safety features are not standard, and the features many shoppers want can push the price up significantly. Even so, 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 X1’s standard all-wheel drive and premium cabin materials point to a vehicle built to feel substantial and well sorted over time. Its expert assessment also emphasizes that it is fun to drive while still bringing useful capability and plenty of cargo space, which is the kind of balance many used buyers want from a long-term ownership choice.

The performance tuning and upgraded drivetrain hardware suggest a modern, capable setup, and the cabin’s upscale materials should help it age well if it has been cared for properly. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying for higher-spec equipment you may not need, so condition and maintenance history matter more than chasing options.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X1?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because even a strong accident-free share does not guarantee the individual car you’re considering has a clean past. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has the larger wheel package or other higher-cost options, since those can affect ride quality and ownership costs. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and whether the equipment on the car matches what you actually want to live with.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The xDrive28i is the only trim level, and it already brings standard all-wheel drive, premium interior materials, and a fun-to-drive character. The main thing to watch is that some advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to step up in equipment if you want more driver assistance.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and it pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is tuned for quick response, with a zero-to-60 time of 6.2 seconds, and it can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
• Safety package: Active blind-spot detection is standard and includes exit warning, while the standard front-collision warning system adds pedestrian and cyclist detection with brake intervention. Active Driving Assistant Professional is available and adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and BMW’s Live Cockpit Plus is standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The X1 is rated at 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, with 28 combined mpg.

Which 2023 BMW X1 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X1 is offered in 1 trim level: xDrive28i.

Here's the short version:

The xDrive28i is the one to buy because it is the only trim and already gives you the core X1 formula: standard all-wheel drive, strong performance, and a premium-feeling cabin. It is the best fit if you want the X1’s sporty character without needing to build it up with expensive options.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that active blind-spot detection is standard, but more advanced driver-assistance features are bundled into available equipment rather than included across the board.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X1?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,046 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,365, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X1's resale value?

The current average of $30,365 sits slightly below last year's $32,154.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays where it is. The current range suggests the X1 has already moved off its peak pricing, which can make depreciation feel more manageable from here.

If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and avoid overpaying for options, you should have a better chance of protecting value later. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 safe?

The 2023 BMW X1 earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

For 2023, active blind-spot detection becomes standard, and it includes exit warning to help alert occupants to approaching hazards when opening the door. The standard front-collision warning system also includes pedestrian and cyclist detection with brake intervention.

BMW’s Active Driving Assistant Professional is available and adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go. A 360-degree camera system is available as part of the Premium Package, and Parking Assistant Plus can help with choosing, entering, and exiting spaces.

One important caveat is that some advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to shop carefully if driver assistance is a priority.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW X1 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new third-generation X1 is zippy and fun enough to be worthy of the badge, while also bringing new capability and plenty of cargo space.

The bottom line: The 2023 X1 is the right pick if you want the newest version of the model’s sporty, upscale formula and you value its stronger performance and added utility. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to keep shopping the market for the best-condition example rather than stretching for a heavily optioned one.
