Used 2023 BMW X1 for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

How much does the 2023 BMW X1 cost?

Prices have softened 5.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,010 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X1 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

The X1 stands out as a small luxury crossover that feels more like a polished, sporty SAV than a basic commuter. It brings standard all-wheel drive, a premium-feeling cabin, and useful cargo space, so it fits well if you want everyday practicality without giving up a more upscale driving experience.

The main trade-offs are that some advanced safety features are not standard, and the features many shoppers want can push the price up significantly. Even so, the market shows 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X1’s appeal is reinforced by its upscale cabin materials, standard all-wheel drive, and the sense that it is built to feel more refined than many small crossovers. Its performance-oriented setup also suggests a vehicle engineered to deliver a more engaging ownership experience than a typical entry-level luxury SUV.

The powertrain is described as stronger and more capable than before, with a revised turbocharged four-cylinder and an updated transmission that work together to improve everyday drivability. BMW also notes upgraded suspension and damping for better comfort and stability, which supports confidence in how the vehicle should hold up over time.

BMW’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to the X1 as a relatively accessible entry into the brand, which can help if you want luxury without stepping too far up the price ladder. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the desirable equipment can make well-equipped examples more expensive to maintain and replace if you want the same feature set later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X1?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the features that make the X1 appealing can also make a neglected example feel less special than you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The xDrive28i is the only trim level mentioned, and it already brings standard all-wheel drive, premium interior materials, and a polished cabin feel. The base setup is strong, but some shoppers may still want to budget for packages that add more convenience and luxury.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and it is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is described as quick and engaging, with a 6.2-second zero-to-60 time and up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity.
• Safety package: Active blind-spot detection is standard, and it includes exit warning. The standard front-collision warning system adds pedestrian and cyclist detection with brake intervention. Active Driving Assistant Professional is available and adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and Live Cockpit Plus is standard. Live Cockpit Professional adds a full-color head-up display and augmented reality navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The X1 is rated at 25 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined.

Which 2023 BMW X1 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X1 is offered in 1 trim level: xDrive28i.

Here's the short version:

The xDrive28i is the one to buy because it already gives you the core X1 experience: standard all-wheel drive, strong performance, premium cabin materials, and the latest BMW Curved Display. If you want the best value, this is the trim to start with, then add only the packages you truly care about.

Safety content also shows that active blind-spot detection is standard, while Active Driving Assistant Professional and some parking aids are optional, so you should decide early whether those features matter enough to justify the extra cost.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X1?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and focused.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,010 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,480, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X1's resale value?

The current average of $30,637 sits slightly below last year's $32,378.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are likely to be modest. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend implies you should expect value retention to depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 safe?

The 2023 BMW X1 earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Active blind-spot detection is standard, and it includes exit warning to help alert occupants to approaching hazards when opening the door. The standard front-collision warning system also includes pedestrian and cyclist detection with brake intervention.

BMW’s Active Driving Assistant Professional is available and adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go. A 360-degree camera system is available as part of the Premium Package, and other optional parking aids include Active Park Distance Control, Back-Up Assistant, and Parking Assistant Plus.

A key caveat is that some advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to step up to a higher package if you want the fullest driver-assistance setup.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW X1 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new third-generation X1 brings more capability and plenty of cargo space while staying zippy and fun to drive.

The bottom line: The 2023 X1 is the right pick if you want the newest version of this small luxury crossover and value its stronger performance, standard AWD, and upscale feel. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can use the softened market and healthy inventory to shop carefully for a well-equipped example rather than stretching for the most expensive build.
