How much does the 2023 BMW 7 Series cost?

Prices have softened 14.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 722 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series a good car?

It’s a mixed but compelling flagship sedan if you value comfort and driving enjoyment more than easy-to-use tech or universally appealing styling. The user rating is 1/5, and the expert rating is 6.67/10.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

The 2023 BMW 7 Series stands out for its comfortable ride, strong handling, and premium-luxury feel, while its styling is more polarizing and its technology interface can frustrate you. That makes it a better fit if you want a refined large sedan that still feels engaging on the road.

The main trade-offs are the unintuitive technology and the potentially polarizing design.

With 38.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series reliable?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is positioned as a high-end flagship with a strong comfort-and-performance balance, but its long-term appeal depends on how well you tolerate complexity. The expert review highlights smooth power delivery, confident braking, and a semi-automated highway driving system that reduces fatigue on long trips.

The performance write-up also notes that the 7 Series glides away smoothly, with gear changes that are heard but not felt when driven conservatively. On the cost side, the 740i is estimated to return 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving, which is a useful efficiency note for a large luxury sedan.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that the car’s complicated systems may be more frustrating to live with as it ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 7 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with advanced electronics and driver-assistance features. Focus on overall condition, how the technology operates, and whether the cabin and controls feel consistent with the premium experience you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard M Sport theme has some chrome grille accents, while the M Sport Professional theme blacks out the chrome for a more aggressive look. The interior uses a broad horizontal layout with a crystal-like accent strip, a curved pane of dark glass, and excellent materials quality, though high-gloss trim can create harsh reflections.
• Powertrain: The base 740i uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, while the 760i xDrive upgrades to a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. The 740i is estimated at 31 mpg combined, and the 760i is estimated at 26 mpg.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways.
• Infotainment: iDrive 8 uses a touchscreen, a central console dial, and voice commands. The system is feature-rich, but the menu structure is complicated, and the available theater screen can be awkward to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The 740i is estimated to return 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving, while the 760i is estimated to return 26 mpg.

Which 2023 BMW 7 Series trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 740i and 760i xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 740i: This is the better-value choice if you want the core 7 Series experience with the six-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain and the strongest efficiency figure in the lineup. It should suit you if comfort, luxury, and lower running costs matter more than maximum straight-line speed.
• 760i xDrive: This is the choice if you want the V8 upgrade and the quickest acceleration in the lineup. It adds more power and all-wheel drive, but it also comes with a higher price and lower estimated fuel economy.

The standard safety equipment is strong, and the optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds the highway hands-free system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 7 Series?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 722 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $61,239, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 7 Series' resale value?

The current average of $61,239 sits slightly below last year's $71,991.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale value may remain under pressure unless demand strengthens or supply tightens.

Because the current average is also at the low end of the year-round range, you may be buying after a meaningful price correction. That can reduce your depreciation risk relative to paying closer to the prior-year average.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series safe?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series has not been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS yet.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways, and the review says the system is smooth and confidence-inspiring in use.

A key caveat is that the car’s crash-test record is still pending, so you’re relying on equipment and expert evaluation rather than published test results.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.
• Redesigned for 2023, it blends comfort, luxury, and performance with polarizing styling.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $68,035, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $61,239 average.
• BMW added the plug-in hybrid 750e and lightly updated the infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter starting point because prices have already softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re specifically interested in the newer plug-in hybrid option and don’t mind paying more, the 2024 is the path to consider.
