Is the 2023 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — 4.86/5 is a strong user rating, and it lines up with the model’s appeal for performance, comfort, and styling. Reviewers consistently praise the driving experience, the premium-feeling cabin, and the distinctive look, while also noting that the M440i brings especially fun driving character. Is the 2023 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a car that drivers find enjoyable, comfortable, and well put together, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable choice for ownership. The strongest reliability-related takeaway is that owners seem confident enough in the car’s overall experience to rate it highly over time. For used buyers, that suggests lower emotional risk than a model with lukewarm owner feedback, though you should still verify condition carefully before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 4 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re considering, even if the car appears clean on paper. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, interior wear, and signs of uneven maintenance. Because this is a premium model, small cosmetic or mechanical issues can matter more than they would on a mainstream car.

If you find a listing below $39,265, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $39,645 sits slightly below last year's $43,086.

That decline suggests the market has moved in your favor as a buyer, but it also means a future seller may need to price more competitively to stand out. The current range still shows meaningful demand, especially for well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history. If you buy carefully now, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation later by choosing a desirable trim and avoiding cars with visible wear or accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,432, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,645 average.
• It emphasizes driving dynamics and everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the better primary pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the smarter secondary path, especially if you find a clean example with the features you want.
