Is the 2023 Audi Q5 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a model that earns 5/5 from owners and 6.5/10 from expert testing. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise the Q5’s luxurious feel, advanced technology, smooth performance, stylish design, and comfortable interior. In everyday use, that lines up with the overview’s emphasis on a calm, refined small luxury SUV that is enjoyable to drive and easy to live with.

The main trade-offs are sluggish initial acceleration and the cost of premium gasoline. Even so, the Q5’s standard all-wheel drive, comfortable cabin, and quiet road manners make it a strong fit if you want a polished luxury SUV rather than a quick one.

With 37.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Audi Q5 reliable?

The expert evaluation also notes sturdy build quality and a cabin that stays quiet over rough surfaces, which supports the impression of a solid, trouble-free daily driver.

The Q5 also benefits from standard all-wheel drive and a calm, composed road feel, both of which reinforce confidence in everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you’re comfortable with premium-fuel ownership costs and the possibility of slower response in some versions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Audi Q5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Prestige brings matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated parking system, and a traffic sign reader.

• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, and traffic jam assist.
• Infotainment: All Q5s get a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and remote app functions. Mid-range trims add a customizable digital instrument panel, and higher trims can include a Bang & Olufsen audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 40 TFSI is rated at 23 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, while the 45 TFSI is rated at 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 23 miles of electric range and 26 mpg in combined city and highway driving once the battery is depleted.

Which 2023 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it already gives you leather seating, heated front seats, standard all-wheel drive, and the core safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Q5, but it leaves some desirable convenience and driver-assistance upgrades on the table.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim because it adds lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, and a customizable digital instrument panel. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target.

Rear-seat side impact airbags are offered as an option on all trims.

What is the 2023 Audi Q5's resale value?

The current average of $29,219 sits slightly below last year's $31,772.

That decline suggests the Q5 has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy at today’s average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice.

Well-equipped examples with strong maintenance records should hold up better than bare-bones or heavily worn listings. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 Q5 is attractive, comfortable, and well equipped, but its sluggish initial acceleration is the main drawback.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is a sensible used-Q5 target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can shop aggressively for a lower-than-average listing and still find a strong value, but you should be prepared to accept the Q5’s slower response off the line.
