How much does the 2023 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,745 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2023 MDX fits you well if you want a midsize three-row luxury SUV with a stylish design, strong safety credentials, and a polished feel. Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive adds to its appeal, and the model’s relatively fresh redesign helps it feel current.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and a cramped third row may matter if you prioritize efficiency or adult-friendly rear seating. The expert review also points to poor ergonomic design, especially in the way some controls are laid out.

With 37.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 MDX is presented as a relatively fresh redesign, and Acura adds complimentary connected services plus scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 24,000 miles. The expert review also describes the SUV as appealing and fundamentally attractive, with a strong overall ownership proposition for buyers who value style and utility.

Its dependability story is helped by the model’s good safety ratings and the sense that Acura has kept the package current. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with the MDX’s fuel use, tech quirks, and packaging compromises over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, because the MDX’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether its tech and cabin features are working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard MDX comes in a base level of specification with available Technology, A-Spec, and Advance packages, while the MDX Type S is offered in standard spec or with an Advance package. The base setup is the most stripped-down starting point, while higher packages add more equipment and luxury features.
• Powertrain: The standard model uses a 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The expert review notes that the Type S adds power, but not enough to fully justify its fuel use.
• Safety package: Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with AcuraLink connected services, Amazon Alexa Built-In, and a native navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Type S averaged 16.9 mpg in evaluation driving, returned 17 mpg in city driving, and dropped to 14.1 mpg in more aggressive mountain driving. The expert review also cites an official combined rating of 19 mpg.

Which 2023 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura MDX is offered in 6 trim levels: base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, Type S, Type S Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the starting point if you want the MDX’s core style, three-row layout, and standard equipment without paying for extra luxury or convenience upgrades.
• Technology: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger mix of features and everyday usability without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• A-Spec: This is the trim to choose if you want the sportier-looking MDX that the expert review recommends over the Type S for most buyers.
• Advance: This is the better pick if you want more luxury and convenience features, including the head-up display mentioned in the tech coverage.
• Type S: This is the performance-oriented choice, but the expert review says its added power and chassis hardware do not come together as cleanly as they should.
• Type S Advance: This is the most lavish version, but it is also the most expensive and still carries the Type S’s dynamic compromises.

Certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura MDX?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,745 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,959, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $37,959 sits slightly below last year's $41,425.

That price movement suggests the MDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If the market continues to favor well-equipped luxury SUVs with strong safety reputations, the MDX should remain reasonably appealing to used shoppers.

For a future seller, the key is to buy with enough margin that you are not chasing the market downward. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX safe?

The 2023 Acura MDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA, though NHTSA also gave it four-star protection ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

The main caveat is that the expert review flags some false alerts and an unexpected braking event tied to traffic-sign recognition. That means you should pay attention during a test drive and make sure the driver-assistance systems behave the way you expect.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,304, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,959 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with more personality and a more assertive attitude.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,056, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,959 average.
• It adds a new Type-S trim level and broadens the lineup’s performance range.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, freshness, and available inventory, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 gives you a lower entry price, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer model-year update and are willing to pay more.
