Used 2022 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearSaint Petersburg, FL

How much does the 2022 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 24.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,547 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volvo XC90 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, impressive safety features, and luxurious family-SUV character. The review summary also points to hybrid technology and advanced handling as recurring strengths.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and a sluggish touchscreen response, which can dull the premium experience. For you, that means the XC90 makes the most sense if you value style, safety, and refinement more than maximum space or the quickest infotainment system.

The model’s upscale, three-row layout and eco-minded appeal fit buyers who want a premium family SUV with a distinctive personality. Good and great deals account for 35.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with strong safety and family-friendly appeal that owners trust over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the XC90’s solid, confidence-inspiring driving character and its ability to deliver a composed, trouble-free-feeling ownership experience.

Volvo’s maintenance and ownership support can also help reduce friction for some buyers, especially through its subscription program that includes maintenance on certain vehicles. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that premium features and complex systems can be costly if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because even a strong accident-free share does not guarantee the individual listing you’re considering is clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or optional equipment that could be expensive to repair. Focus on cabin condition, infotainment responsiveness, and evidence of regular maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base T5 FWD Momentum starts the lineup, while higher trims add more equipment and luxury touches. The content also notes that ventilated front seats require the Nappa leather option, so base and lower trims may leave you without some comfort features.
• Powertrain: The XC90 offers T5, T6, and T8 powertrains. The T5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the T6 adds supercharging, and the T8 combines gasoline power with an electric motor for plug-in hybrid driving.
• Safety package: Volvo’s Pilot Assist combines lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and related driver aids to support highway driving. Standard safety equipment also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assist front and rear, rain-sensing wipers, slippery road alert, lane-keeping aid, oncoming lane mitigation, and road-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The XC90 uses a nine-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, wireless-style smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay support, Android Auto capability, and over-the-air convenience features through connected services. The system can be slow to respond, so test it yourself.
• Fuel efficiency: T5 FWD models are rated at 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, while T5 AWD models return 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The T6 AWD is rated at 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, and the T8 plug-in hybrid can deliver 55 MPGe or 66 MPGe depending on version.

Which 2022 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volvo XC90 is offered in 7 trim levels: T5 FWD Momentum, T5 AWD Momentum, T6 AWD Momentum, T6 AWD Inscription, T8 Inscription Expression, T8 Inscription, T8 R-Design.

Here's the short version:

• T5 FWD Momentum: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the XC90’s core style, safety, and three-row layout at the lowest starting price. It is the best-value trim for most shoppers who do not need extra power or luxury upgrades.
• T5 AWD Momentum: Choose this if you want the same basic equipment as the base trim but prefer all-wheel drive for added traction and confidence.
• T6 AWD Momentum: This trim adds the stronger supercharged-and-turbocharged powertrain, so it suits you if you want more performance without jumping into the higher luxury trims.
• T6 AWD Inscription: This is the step-up choice if you want the stronger T6 powertrain plus a more upscale presentation and richer equipment.
• T8 Inscription Expression: This is the plug-in hybrid entry point, and it is the right pick if electrification matters more to you than maximum luxury trim content.
• T8 Inscription: This is the best fit if you want the plug-in hybrid powertrain with a more premium feature set than the Expression trim.
• T8 R-Design: This is the top trim listed here, and it is the one to consider if you want the plug-in hybrid setup with the sportiest appearance and highest-positioned equipment.

Volvo’s safety package is a major part of the XC90’s appeal, and the standard driver-assistance suite is a strong reason to shop even the lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volvo XC90?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on standout listings.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,547 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 24.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,029, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $29,029 sits slightly below last year's $38,295.

That price movement suggests the XC90 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher. Strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment should matter more than ever when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC90 safe?

The 2022 XC90 received the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo equips the XC90 with a long list of driver-assistance features, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assist front and rear, rain-sensing wipers with integrated washers, slippery road alert, lane-keeping aid, adaptive cruise control, oncoming lane mitigation, and road-sign recognition. Pilot Assist combines several of those systems to help with lane centering and following distance on highways.

The main caveat is that some of these features are part of a broader assistance package rather than a fully autonomous system, so you still need to stay engaged. Even so, the XC90’s safety reputation is one of its strongest selling points.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 24.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It pairs a stylish design with a quiet cabin and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It emphasizes safety, style, and a refined luxury-SUV identity.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,933, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,029 average.
• It updates the powertrains with B5 and B6 mild-hybrid options.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and upscale appeal, the 2022 is the sweet spot. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the XC90’s core strengths intact.
