The 2022 Volvo S90 is the flagship sedan for the Swedish automaker, highlighting the best of the brand’s luxury and style. The S90 was introduced for the 2017 model year and received a modest refresh for 2021. It carries over into 2022 with some minor powertrain changes and a new Google-based infotainment system. The S90 has spacious seating for five and a trunk that provides up to 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space. As the name suggests, it’s a plug-in hybrid, based around the same twin-charged engine, but with dual electric motors and a larger battery pack. The T8 makes 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. Both setups route power through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The B6 returns fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 31 highway, and 26 combined. The EPA measures plug-in vehicles in terms of miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe). In this context, the S90 T8 returns an estimated 63 MPGe. When its 21 miles of electric range are exhausted, the T8 returns 30 combined mpg. Base MSRP for the 2022 Volvo S90 is $52,850 for a Momentum trim.
