Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It introduced the ID.4 as Volkswagen’s mainstream EV crossover.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,291, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $20,673 average.
• It adds a new base model and more standard tech features.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want newer features and can stretch your budget, the 2023 is worth a look.
