CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 815 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,730, 35.7% of 2022 Toyota Venza listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Venza 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
82.9% of 2022 Toyota Venza listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Venza stands out by blending wagon-like proportions with crossover SUV practicality, giving it a distinctive shape that sets it apart from more conventional midsize two-row SUVs. It also comes with a standard hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain and standard all-wheel drive, which makes efficiency and traction central to its appeal rather than optional extras.
Toyota pairs the Venza’s hybrid setup with a 2.5-liter gas engine, an electric motor, and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The EPA estimates up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined, which helps explain why fuel economy is one of its strongest selling points. It also starts at $33,240 and includes standard advanced safety features, adding to its value proposition.
The Venza’s strengths are clear: it is fuel-efficient, standard AWD is a major advantage, and its comfort and quiet ride are appealing to many owners. At the same time, its technology can be unintuitive, its design may not suit everyone, and cargo space is limited, so buyers should weigh its efficiency and refinement against those practical compromises.

The Venza looks more Lexus-like, inside and out. I was very impressed with how quiet and comfortable the interior was. I like the fuel consumption of this new generation of hybrid and the higher sitting position. I looked at an XLE, which had good safety tech and decent upgrades over the LE. Disappointed that the panoramic sunroof is only available on the Limited trim. I think Toyota should include a conventional sunroof/moonroof that opens on at least the XLE. I would buy one if the markets pricing was normal.

We love our Toyota Venza! Its user friendly, has great visibility and maneuverability. Spacious, yet not too big. Great gas milage being a hybrid. Just need to get used to the quiet ignition noise- you forget its on! Weve been happy with this car for our 16 yer old driver.

Wonderful car, even considering the price tag. Extremely posh interior, thoughtful tech and safety features, beautiful design, drives pleasantly. Not for racing enthusiasts. A vehicle for those who want to keep their blood pressure under control.

Yes — owners rate it 4.71/5, and our experts give it 8.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, quiet ride, and fuel efficiency, and many also like its upscale-feeling interior and smooth driving experience. The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and a design that may not suit every buyer. For you, that means the Venza makes the most sense if you want a refined, efficient two-row crossover rather than maximum utility or a more conventional SUV shape. Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as comfortable, efficient, and easy to recommend. The expert evaluation also emphasizes Toyota’s proven hybrid setup and transparent operation, which supports the sense that the Venza is built for dependable everyday use. Toyota’s shared-platform engineering also points to long vehicle viability and easier service support. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the Venza’s cargo space and technology fit your needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and electronics, since those are the areas most likely to affect ownership satisfaction. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use, especially cabin wear, cargo-area practicality, and whether the tech setup feels intuitive to you.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE and XLE come with an eight-inch touchscreen, while the Limited upgrades to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and adds a nine-speaker JBL audio system with a subwoofer and amplifier. The LE uses a 5-inch instrument cluster display, while the XLE and Limited get a 7-inch screen. If you want the most upscale cabin and the strongest tech presentation, the Limited is the clear step up.
- Powertrain: The Venza uses a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine and three electric motors for 219 horsepower combined. It offers EV operation for short distances and Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes, with regenerative braking helping recharge the battery.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and hill-start assist are standard on all trim levels, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is reserved for XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: The LE and XLE include an eight-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa capability, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Toyota Connected Services. The Limited adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and available advanced tech features such as a head-up display and digital rearview mirror.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined fuel economy. The hybrid setup is designed to deliver strong efficiency without requiring charging infrastructure.
Which 2022 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value play if you want the Venza’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and the eight-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience and safety equipment without jumping all the way to the top price. You get the same core hybrid efficiency plus front and rear parking assist with automated braking, a 7-inch instrument cluster display, and the same infotainment foundation as the LE.
- Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most premium-feeling Venza. It adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, navigation, fog lamps, and available advanced tech features like the head-up display and digital rearview mirror.
For safety-package coverage, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and hill-start assist are standard across the lineup, while parking assist with automated braking is limited to XLE and Limited.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.
- Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 799 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.74% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,397, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $28,742 sits slightly below last year's $29,551.
That softer pricing suggests the Venza is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can help you enter ownership at a better value. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that a well-kept example may still hold appeal because the model’s efficiency and standard AWD remain strong selling points. If market demand stays steady, clean-condition vehicles should continue to attract attention from shoppers who want a refined hybrid crossover.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2022 Toyota Venza earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and hill-start assist are standard on all trim levels, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is limited to XLE and Limited. The main caveat is that some of the more advanced parking aids are not standard on the base trim.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.74% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines standard hybrid efficiency with standard all-wheel drive and a refined, upscale feel.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $26,860, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,742 average.
- It offers a more upscale-feeling hybrid crossover with standard AWD and a refined cabin.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,868, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $28,742 average.
- It sharpens the styling and keeps the fuel-efficient, luxury-leaning character.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and standard AWD, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value alternative; if you want to spend more for a newer take on the same formula, the 2023 is worth a look.
