CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Nissan Titan
overall

Summary
With 78 currently listed for sale near Dallas, TX and an average price of $30,712, 14.1% of 2022 Nissan Titans for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Nissan Titan 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
85.9% of 2022 Titan models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Nissan Titan may not be the best-selling full-size pickup truck, but it stands out as an often overlooked option that deserves more attention. It is available in King Cab and Crew Cab configurations, and it comes with a standard 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine plus rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. With a starting price of $38,810, it also presents itself as an appealing value in the full-size truck segment.
What helps the 2022 Nissan Titan distinguish itself is its stylish design and quiet cabin, both of which add to its everyday appeal. The truck’s value proposition is another clear strength, especially for buyers who want a full-size pickup without chasing the most expensive nameplates. Its drawbacks are straightforward as well: a manual transmission is not available, and fuel economy is poor.

Great truck. I love its look and all the features it came with. I have a 2005 Titan and am sold on the brand. That was the main motivation for buying a new one. This was a no-brainer for me. Great towing capacity, impressive ground clearance, luxurious spacious comfortable interior, and great power with its 400hp 5.7 liter engine. I highly recommend anyone looking for a truck to check out the Titan.

How much does the 2022 Nissan Titan cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,738 |
| Year-Round Low | $28,739 |
| Year-Round High | $31,416 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $31,388 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.26% |
Prices have softened 5.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 874 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Nissan Titan a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Nissan Titan earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.
It stands out as an often overlooked full-size pickup with a stylish design, a quiet cabin, and strong value for the segment. It is available in King Cab and Crew Cab configurations, and it comes with a standard V8 and rear- or four-wheel drive, so you can shop it as a practical everyday truck rather than a stripped-down workhorse.
The main trade-offs are straightforward: manual transmission is not available, and fuel economy is poor. Even so, the truck’s value proposition is a clear strength if you want a full-size pickup without chasing the most expensive nameplates.
Only 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than deeply discounted.
Is the 2022 Nissan Titan reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Titan is described as a truck with strong standard equipment, a powerful engine, and a comfortable, easy-to-live-with cabin. Its standard V8 and straightforward layout support the sense that it is built for everyday use, while the expert review also highlights its pleasant driving manners and solid overall execution.
The performance notes describe the engine as a good one with variable valve timing and direct gasoline injection, and the truck is presented as well-matched to its transmission. That combination points to a powertrain that should feel familiar and durable in normal use.
The cost-effectiveness notes also emphasize that the standard safety features alone make it worth consideration. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that poor fuel economy can make it more expensive to live with over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Titan?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on cabin condition, drivetrain behavior, and any signs of heavy use, especially if you are considering a truck that may have been asked to tow or haul.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S trim leaves out some of the nicer tech and convenience upgrades found higher up the range, while the upper trims add more premium equipment and features.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a 5.6-liter gasoline V8 with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the truck is tuned for strong thrust rather than efficiency.
- Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and rear automatic braking. Standard halogen reflector headlights on the S and SV trims received a Poor rating.
- Infotainment: An 8-inch center display is standard, a 9-inch touchscreen is available, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and over-the-air map updates are included with navigation-equipped versions.
- Fuel efficiency: RWD models are estimated at 16 mpg city/21 mpg highway/18 mpg combined, 4WD models at 15 mpg city/21 mpg highway/18 mpg combined, and Pro-4X models at 15 mpg city/20 mpg highway/17 mpg combined.
Which 2022 Nissan Titan trim should I buy?
The 2022 Nissan Titan is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, Pro-4X, Platinum Reserve, and Titan S Crew Cab.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point if you want the Titan’s standard V8, standard safety suite, and the lowest starting price. It makes the most sense if you care more about core truck capability than extra comfort or tech.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more flexibility in cab and drivetrain choices while staying below the upper trims. It is the trim to focus on if you want a balanced mix of equipment and price.
- Pro-4X: This is the off-road-oriented choice, with 4WD standard, an electronically locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, and Bilstein off-road shocks. It suits you if you want the most rugged setup in the lineup.
- Platinum Reserve: This is the most upscale version, with the richest feature set and the premium audio upgrade standard. It is the right pick if you want the Titan to feel more like a comfort-first daily driver.
- Titan S Crew Cab: This version gives you the S trim’s value focus with Crew Cab practicality, making it a smart choice if passenger space matters more than extra luxury features.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, but the S and SV trims use halogen reflector headlights that were rated Poor.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Titan?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 874 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 80.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $28,739, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Nissan Titan's resale value?
The current average of $29,738 sits slightly below last year's $31,388.
That decline suggests the Titan has become a bit more affordable in the used market, which can help you buy in at a lower cost today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim desirability than on broad market momentum alone.
Because the price trend has softened, you may have less downside risk if you buy at the right number. Well-kept examples should still attract interest, especially if they combine strong equipment with the Titan’s reputation for comfort and value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Nissan Titan safe?
The Titan received top “Good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in all but the small overlap front: passenger-side crash test, where it received an “Acceptable” rating.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and rear automatic braking. The truck also gets standard intelligent forward collision warning and eight airbags.
One important caveat is that the standard halogen reflector headlights on the S and SV trims received a Poor rating. Pro 4X and Platinum Reserve models get full LED headlights, but those were not rated.
Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Titan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 keeps the Titan’s strong standard safety suite and value-focused positioning.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $30,347, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,738 average.
- It was significantly refreshed for 2020 and carries those updates into 2021.
The bottom line: If you want the better current-market value, the 2022 is the cleaner path because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you are comparing closely priced examples, the 2021 can still make sense when you find a well-kept truck with the right equipment and condition.
