Used 2022 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearMadison, WI

How much does the 2022 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have softened 5.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,655 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The Sentra is described as a well-rounded compact sedan that emphasizes easy-to-use technology, comfort, and stylish design. It is also framed as a sensible, approachable small sedan and a strong entry point for Nissan, which fits you if you want a car that is easy to live with rather than flashy.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and some rivals offer more cargo space. Even so, the overall package is balanced enough to make it appealing if you value comfort and usability over excitement.

About 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sentra’s reliability case is helped by its balanced design and its focus on everyday competence rather than complexity. The expert review also points to solid low-end acceleration, good highway behavior, and a suspension that does a decent job soaking up most bumps, all of which support an easy ownership experience.

The powertrain is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile warranty, which adds some reassurance for used buyers. For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about outright weakness and more about buying a car that may have been used hard or not maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free listings. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the condition of the drivetrain, brakes, tires, and suspension, since those are the areas most likely to reveal how the car was treated. It also helps to compare trim equipment closely so you know whether the car has the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim includes 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, halogen headlights, and a 7-inch touchscreen, while the SV adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, premium cloth upholstery, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The SR adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and sport cloth seats with orange accent stitching.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower, a CVT, and front-wheel drive. The setup is tuned for solid low-end acceleration and good highway behavior rather than standout performance.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor are available on the test model, and the adaptive cruise control can brake abruptly when it reaches the car ahead.
• Infotainment: The base model has a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the SV and SR use an 8-inch screen. The system is easy to navigate, but it does not offer wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sentra returns 29 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined. The SR returns 28 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want core tech like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 7-inch touchscreen. It gives you the essentials, but it is also the most basic version, so it makes the biggest feature compromises.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, premium cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the larger 8-inch touchscreen. It also adds intelligent cruise control and more USB connectivity, making it the most balanced choice.
• SR: This is the trim to choose if you want the sportier look and extra equipment, including 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and unique exterior and interior touches. It is the most style-forward version, but you are paying more for appearance and added features rather than a major performance upgrade.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,655 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,495, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $16,570 sits slightly below last year's $17,588.

That decline suggests the Sentra has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, the softer market means you should be realistic about appreciation and focus on buying a clean, well-equipped example that will stay attractive to the next buyer.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra comes with a solid standard safety suite that includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. The test model also had a surround-view parking monitor and adaptive cruise control.

The main caveat is that the adaptive cruise control can brake abruptly when it reaches the vehicle ahead, and the IIHS noted lower headlight ratings even though the Sentra still earned a Top Safety Pick award.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 Sentra is a polished, easy-to-live-with compact sedan with strong safety and user-friendly tech.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,131, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $16,570 average.
• It offers a smart, polished compact-sedan package with strong everyday value.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of price, inventory, and satisfaction, the 2022 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Sentra’s core strengths.
