Used 2022 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearSaint Louis, MO

How much does the 2022 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 6.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,383 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.66/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the truck’s design, comfort, and power, and they also highlight its roomy cabin and upgraded interior. The Frontier’s comfortable cabin and strong value proposition fit well if you want a midsize pickup that feels modern without giving up truck capability.

The trade-offs are clear: heavy steering and poor fuel economy are the main knocks from both owners and testers. The truck also has mixed feedback around rear seat space and reliability, so it makes the most sense if you prioritize comfort, tech, and capability over efficiency and a light steering feel.

Good and great deals account for 37.8% of listings, which means there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.66/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers find dependable, with praise for its solid upgrade feel, comfort, and power. The summary also notes that some owners see it as a trouble-free choice, though reliability opinions are mixed compared with competitors.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Frontier’s strong powertrain and its ability to handle daily driving and load-bearing duties with confidence. Nissan’s maintenance-friendly ownership pitch is reinforced by the truck’s value-oriented positioning.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that mixed reliability feedback means condition and maintenance history matter more than usual.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a truck like this, where steering feel, cabin wear, and drivetrain condition can vary by use. Focus on how the truck was driven and whether the equipment matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lowest trim uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while the PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen and off-road-focused hardware. Base-trim shoppers should pay attention to feature gaps if they want a more modern cabin experience.
• Powertrain: The Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and available rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. It delivers strong acceleration and useful towing and payload capability.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The Frontier offers an 8-inch touchscreen on S and SV trims and a 9-inch screen on PRO-4X. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a wired connection; wireless projection is not supported.
• Fuel efficiency: Rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 18 mpg city, 24 highway, 20 combined, while four-wheel-drive models are rated at 17/22/19. The combined figure is also described as 19 mpg.

Which 2022 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-X, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Frontier’s core redesign, standard V6 power, and an 8-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and can live without the nicer cabin and tech upgrades found higher up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday appeal without jumping into the off-road pricing of the PRO models. It also keeps the 8-inch screen, so it’s a practical middle ground if you want a well-equipped truck without paying for specialized hardware.
• PRO-X: Choose this if you like the PRO-4X look but do not need four-wheel drive or the full off-road package. It keeps the styling cues while dropping the locking differential and skid plates.
• PRO-4X: This is the trim to buy if you want the most capability. It adds the 9-inch touchscreen, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, an electronic locking rear differential, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and an off-road monitor.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,383 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,774, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $26,774 sits slightly below last year's $28,743.

That softer pricing suggests the Frontier is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means your resale outcome will depend heavily on how well you preserve condition, mileage, and equipment level.

Because the market is already pricing this model year below last year’s average, a clean, well-maintained truck should stand out more than a rough one. Higher-trim trucks with desirable equipment are likely to be easier to move than stripped examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.66/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier has not been crash-tested yet by either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. Eight airbags also come standard.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. If you want those extra driver-assistance features, make sure the truck you’re considering has that package.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.66/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a full redesign with a stronger V6, a more comfortable cabin, and much better technology.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,901, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $26,774 average.
• It adds a few more standard features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the redesigned Frontier experience at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model with a few extra standard features, the 2023 is the cleaner upgrade path.
