How much does the 2022 Nissan Frontier cost?

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.66/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the truck’s design, comfort, roomy cabin, and powerful engine. The Frontier also comes across as a strong value play, with buyers and experts both pointing to its upgraded interior and overall usefulness. In use-case terms, it fits you well if you want a midsize pickup that feels more modern than the outgoing truck while still keeping a work-ready character.

The main trade-offs are heavy steering and poor fuel economy.

Good and great deals account for 34.6% of listings, which means you can still find attractive pricing if you shop carefully.

User feedback also points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and solid over the long term, with owners often describing it as a worthwhile upgrade. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by emphasizing the Frontier’s strong value and capable, well-rounded nature. Nissan also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit at no charge, which helps lower early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that mixed reliability sentiment means you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on steering feel, brake condition, tire wear, and signs of hard use. Because this is a truck, pay extra attention to cabin wear, bed condition, and whether the truck’s equipment matches how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lowest trim uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims can bring a 9-inch screen and more upscale equipment. The off-road-focused PRO-4X adds the most rugged hardware and is the trim that best suits buyers who want the Frontier’s capability to match its styling.
• Powertrain: The Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. Rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 18 mpg city, 24 highway, 20 combined, while four-wheel-drive models are rated at 17/22/19.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: A standard 8-inch touchscreen comes on S and SV trims, while PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a wired connection; wireless projection is not supported.
• Fuel efficiency: The Frontier’s combined fuel economy rating is 19 mpg.

Which 2022 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-X, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Frontier’s core V6 power and standard 8-inch touchscreen at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the truck’s fundamentals and plan to keep the budget tight.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability while staying below the off-road and premium-focused versions. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and price, start here.
• PRO-X: Choose this if you like the PRO-4X look but do not need four-wheel drive or the full off-road hardware. It keeps the styling cues while dropping the trail-focused equipment.
• PRO-4X: This is the trim to buy if you want the Frontier’s most capable off-road setup. It adds hill-start assist, hill-descent control, an electronic locking rear differential, Bilstein shock absorbers, skid plates, and an off-road monitor.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still some room for a smart deal.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,400 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,835, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $26,949 sits slightly below last year's $28,849.

That price movement suggests the Frontier has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. A softer current price can also make the truck easier to resell later if you buy at the right number today. Strong value positioning and broad shopper appeal should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.66/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 comes standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. Eight airbags also come standard. The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.66/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, stronger tech, and real off-road capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $32,049, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $26,949 average.
• It adds only minor updates and a few extra standard features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the redesign benefits at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year with a few incremental updates, the 2023 is the cleaner alternative. For most price-sensitive shoppers, the 2022 is the stronger starting point.
