CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB
overall

Summary
With 1,151 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,954, 35.5% of 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLBs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
88.5% of 2022 GLB models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB is distinctive because it is designed for Europe’s narrow city streets and tight parking spaces while still aiming to maximize utility in a minimally sized SUV. Its boxy shape puts practicality ahead of style, and it offers seating for up to seven people. It also starts at a base price under $40,000, which helps make its mix of utility, technology, and luxury feel more accessible than many buyers might expect from a Mercedes.
That practical focus is part of what makes the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB appealing, especially for shoppers who want a compact SUV that can do more with less space. At the same time, the GLB’s performance-oriented side comes with tradeoffs: the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLB35 is described as being a lot of fun on a twisting mountain road, but it requires dynamic compromises in the kinds of everyday situations most drivers are likely to face.

Reviewed a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB on Feb 26, 2023
This car is amazing and has so much tech that makes the ride super enjoyable. I would give 5 stars but the 2022 model does not have automatic seats due to Covid issues with getting chips in. Overall an amazing car despite that one thing.

The turbocharged four-cylinder setup is described as quick enough for daily driving in the GLB250, while the AMG version is more focused on performance than comfort. The cost-effectiveness commentary also notes that you can keep the GLB more manageable by avoiding heavy optioning, which helps reduce ownership strain.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-spec versions can be less forgiving in daily use, so condition and equipment level matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any listing you like, even if it appears clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a luxury SUV with multiple option packages, because equipment content can vary a lot from one example to another. Focus on overall condition, feature completeness, and whether the vehicle has the equipment you actually want.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The GLB250 is the more practical choice, while the AMG GLB35 adds a more powerful drivetrain, more aggressive styling, and a more performance-focused character. The base GLB250 can be equipped with front-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the AMG version brings exclusive vertical grille bars and other AMG-specific touches.
- Powertrain: Both versions use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The AMG GLB35 produces 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, uses an AMG SpeedShift eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and is tuned for sharper response than the GLB250.
- Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds 12 driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, including adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance. The test vehicle lacked several features from that package, including evasive steering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic warning, and Active Emergency Stop Assist.
- Infotainment: The GLB uses Mercedes-Benz User Experience with standard Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mercedes Me connected services. The AMG GLB35 includes a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the Multimedia Package adds navigation with augmented reality.
- Fuel efficiency: The AMG GLB35 is rated at 22 mpg in combined driving, compared with 25 mpg for the GLB 250 4Matic. Testing returned 21.8 mpg in the AMG GLB35.
Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB trim should I buy?
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB is offered in 2 trim levels: GLB250 and AMG GLB35.
Here's the short version:
- GLB250: This is the better everyday pick if you want the GLB’s practical packaging, more approachable driving manners, and lower ownership burden. It still gives you the compact footprint, available 4Matic AWD, and the core luxury-tech experience without the AMG model’s firmer ride and more demanding personality.
- AMG GLB35: Choose this if you want the quickest, most performance-focused version and care more about driving excitement than comfort. It adds the stronger engine, AMG-specific transmission and chassis tuning, and a much more aggressive character, but it is the less forgiving choice for routine commuting.
The Driver Assistance Package is the safety option you should prioritize, especially on higher-trim or more heavily optioned examples.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,159 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.12% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $26,905, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB's resale value?
The current average of $26,905 sits slightly below last year's $29,603.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment, since buyers will likely compare your listing against a fairly broad pool of similarly priced examples. Well-kept GLBs with the right options should still draw interest, but heavily worn or poorly equipped examples may need sharper pricing.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB safe?
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB does not have crash-test ratings listed here.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The available Driver Assistance Package adds 12 driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, including adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance. Standard equipment includes Active Brake Assist, blind-spot monitoring, Mercedes-Benz emergency call service, rain-sensing wipers, Attention Assist, and Exit Warning Assist.
A key caveat is that the test vehicle did not include the Driver Assistance Package, so several advanced safety features were missing. If safety tech matters to you, you should look closely at whether a used example has that package installed.
Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.12% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 stands out for its practical, compact packaging, seven-passenger seating, and strong technology score.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $23,333, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,905 average.
- It stands out for flexible seating and an optional third row.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market position, the 2022 is the better target because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the GLB’s flexible interior appeal.
