Few vehicles are as capable or legendary off-road as the Toyota Land Cruiser and its Lexus counterpart, the LX. However, both vehicles have been on the market for well over a decade in their current forms. That’s a problem, especially when we consider how quickly those vehicles’ competition is evolving and adding new features, tech, and capabilities. Thankfully for Toyota and Lexus fans, 2022 will bring a solution, but only for one of the vehicles. The Land Cruiser will not be sold in the U.S. for the new model year, but the LX is getting a ground-up redesign that should prove to be worth the wait.
When it hits the market, the 2022 Lexus LX will compete against vehicles such as the Land Rover Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and, yes—even the Cadillac Escalade. A premium product commands premium pricing, so expect to see an MSRP that lands somewhere between $90,000 and $100,000 to start.
Where the current LX has plowed its way down trails and around plush neighborhood cul-de-sacs using a stout V8, we believe the 2022 LX will get a twin-turbo V6. Given the vehicle’s off-road credentials, there’s a good chance that standard four-wheel drive will continue on in the LX lineup. It’s the same setup that debuted in the new, not-for-USA Land Cruiser, which is a good indication of what’s to come. In the Toyota, the engine makes 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, and it’s paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. There could also be a hybrid option at some point down the road.
In terms of technology, Lexus has been mum on details, but we can take some hints from the automaker’s other products. The previous LX didn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto support, but that’s likely to change for 2022. We’ll also see an updated version of Lexus’s infotainment software, as the systems in many Toyota vehicles have evolved in recent years. The famous, or infamous, Lexus trackpad controller system may very well make an appearance. The new vehicle should also carry the latest in safety and driver assistance technologies.
The 2022 LX’s styling is anybody’s guess at this point. There are many rumors and renders, but Lexus has not released official images of any type. It’s a solid bet that the vehicle’s large spindle grille and sharp front-end design will stick around, but beyond that, there’s no way to know for sure.

(5 reviews)Best SUV ever very smooth handling Comfort interior very nice I drive every day and don’t want to stop driving
Unless you get it at msrp, paying MA on a 2022/2023 LX 600 is not worth it. This suv lacks the refinement luxury details the LX 570 had. It looks cheap inside with no more polished wood trim. Third row is really too small for an adult to sit. And Lexus still left the exhaust pipe without any tip which most of the luxury SUV’s have.
Overrated overpriced over marked up At msrp probably worth it
Outstanding except we need few extra inches leg room in the rear passenger seats.
MSRP 100k when you call or go there they want you 185k it not worth That much only stupid people pay that much.
