Used 2022 Kia Sportage for Sale nearBaton Rouge, LA

How much does the 2022 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 7.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,491 listings available, which gives you a healthy pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 Kia Sportage a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Kia Sportage earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its features, value, and performance upgrades, and many also like the comfortable interior and strong power. The main trade-offs are limited rear legroom and outdated technology, with modest acceleration also coming up in owner feedback.

For you, that means the Sportage makes the most sense if you want a compact SUV that feels polished, well equipped, and easy to live with rather than one that leads the class in modern tech or rear-seat space. It also fits shoppers who want a stylish, practical crossover in the middle of Kia’s lineup.

38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as a vehicle they appreciate for its value and performance upgrades, and the feedback points to a generally dependable ownership experience when the vehicle is in good condition. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Kia’s warranty coverage adds to the ownership appeal, which can help reduce worry over the long haul.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s basic appeal and more about how well a specific example was maintained and cared for before sale.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible wear. Focus on overall condition, interior use, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim and package you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the least equipped, while the LX Value Edition Package adds features from higher trims and dark gray 18-inch wheels; the EX also gains a standard panoramic sunroof.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, while the SX Turbo brings 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, or 237 hp with AWD.
• Safety package: Every trim gets forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning requires the LX Value Edition Package or any version except the base LX.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Most trims also include UVO Link connected services and satellite radio, while the SX Turbo adds wireless smartphone charging and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2022 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Sportage is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Nightfall Edition, EX, and SX Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s the trim most likely to leave you wanting more because blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not included unless you move up or add the LX Value Edition Package.
• Nightfall Edition: This is the style-focused middle ground, and it replaces the S version for 2022 while keeping the Sportage’s upscale feel and available safety and tech content.
• EX: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a standard panoramic sunroof and sits in the sweet spot between price and equipment.
• SX Turbo: This is the one to choose if you want the strongest performance, with the turbocharged engine, upgraded brakes, and the most premium tech and audio setup.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning features are not on the base LX unless you add the LX Value Edition Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,491 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,705, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $17,705 sits slightly below last year's $19,191.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. Strong equipment, clean history, and desirable trim content should help support demand later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Sportage safe?

The Kia Sportage earns an Acceptable headlight rating from IIHS, which is enough to put it over the line for an IIHS Top Safety Pick laurel.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not standard on the base LX, so that’s an important trim-level gap to watch for.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping assistance can be effective when you need it, but irritating when you don’t, so you may want to test how it feels on your own commute.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new Nightfall Edition, a Value Edition Package, and a standard panoramic sunroof on the EX.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,092, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,705 average.
• It suits city-street shoppers who want style, easy-to-use tech, and warranty peace of mind.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $23,608, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $17,705 average.
• It brings a more distinctive design and a roomier, more modern-feeling cabin.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want a well-equipped, safety-minded Sportage at a softer price than the newer model. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can still make sense, but the 2022 gives you the stronger mix of features, value, and market availability.
