Used 2023 Kia Sportage for Sale nearBaton Rouge, LA

How much does the 2023 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 5.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,008 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Sportage earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its great value, spacious interior, and modern styling, and they also like the impressive features you get for the money. The expert review backs that up with strong marks for distinctive design and a well-equipped cabin.

The main trade-off is performance: the gas engine is described as fairly pedestrian, and the review also notes that some buyers may want more power and a bit more cargo space. Even so, the Sportage fits well if you want a compact crossover that feels roomy, stylish, and tech-forward for everyday use.

Good and great deals account for 38.8% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on value, features, and the kind of day-to-day usability that helps a vehicle feel trustworthy over time. The expert review also emphasizes Kia’s strong warranty coverage, which adds confidence for long-term ownership.

Kia’s warranty coverage is a meaningful ownership perk, and that can help reduce worry about early repair costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment to inspect. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the features you care about work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX uses cloth seats and an 8-inch infotainment screen, while EX and above get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen; the SX trim and up add a panoramic, curved 12.3-inch driver display.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission; FWD and AWD are both offered, and AWD versions are slightly less fuel-efficient.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, rear backup sensors, and a backup camera. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while SX and above add adaptive cruise control. SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige are the only trims with blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.
• Infotainment: The LX gets an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while EX and up get a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Wireless charging, rear USB-C ports, navigation, SiriusXM, and HD Radio are standard above LX, and the Harman Kardon stereo is standard on SX, SX Prestige, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas Sportage is rated at 25 mpg city, 32 highway, 28 combined with FWD, and 23/28/25 with AWD.

Which 2023 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Sportage is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is also the least compelling if you want the Sportage’s best value. You get the basics, including cloth seats and the smaller 8-inch screen, but the cabin and tech feel less impressive than the higher trims.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone full automatic climate control, and key safety upgrades like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning.
• SX: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale tech experience. It adds the panoramic, curved 12.3-inch driver display, adaptive cruise control, and the Harman Kardon stereo, but the powertrain still keeps the Sportage from feeling especially quick.
• SX Prestige: This is the choice if you want the most premium-feeling gas Sportage. It builds on the SX with the highest-end safety and convenience content, including blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.
• X-Line: This trim adds rugged visual treatment, including 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss- and matte-black exterior trim, and a gloss-black roof rack. It is more about appearance than capability.
• X-Pro: This is the one to choose if you want genuine off-road-oriented hardware. It adds BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, AT-tire-tuned drive modes, and smaller 17-inch wheels, but it can feel less settled on pavement.
• X-Pro Prestige: This is the most feature-rich X-Pro version and the one to consider if you want the off-road look and the top safety tech together.

The safety-package highlights are strongest on the higher trims, especially SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige, which get the blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,008 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,608, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $23,608 sits slightly below last year's $25,042.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. A softer current price can also make the vehicle easier to move later if you buy at the right number today.

Because the model has broad appeal for value, space, and tech, it should remain attractive to used shoppers who want a well-equipped compact crossover. Strong demand for the right trim and condition can help support resale value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2023 Kia Sportage has not yet been crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist and lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, rear backup sensors, and a backup camera. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while SX and above add adaptive cruise control.

The most advanced Kia safety features are reserved for the SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige trims, which get blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist. If those features matter to you, you will need to shop higher in the lineup.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings a redesigned look, a spacious cabin, and standout tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,705, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,608 average.
• It is a stylish, well-equipped SUV with an available turbocharged engine.

The 2023 is the better pick if you want the redesigned cabin, stronger tech, and broader appeal in the current generation. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly route and still offers a polished, feature-rich experience.
