The 2022 Soul stands out for its boxy, space-efficient shape, a more modern feature set, and a broader spread of trims, while the updated chassis helps improve comfort and interior space. Is the 2022 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Soul is built on a newer chassis with current technology, powertrains, and safety features, and it benefits from a more polished, useful package than earlier versions. At the same time, the model has faced some reliability and recall concerns in recent years, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance records and vehicle history. For long-term ownership, that means you should be especially careful about condition and documentation before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Soul?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then confirm that the car’s condition matches the listing description. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful if you’re comparing multiple examples, since you want to focus on maintenance quality, signs of prior damage, and overall wear. Because this model has had some reliability and recall concerns, a careful condition check matters more than usual.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. The Soul’s distinctive design and practical packaging should continue to support demand among shoppers who want value and space in a small footprint.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $13,909, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $14,657 average.
• It offers a broader trim spread and a more configurable lineup.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $17,220, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $14,657 average.
• It adds more standard driver-assist features and a more focused trim lineup.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want the strongest mix of price, inventory, and satisfaction. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want newer standard equipment and can spend more, the 2023 is the cleaner upgrade path.
