For used shoppers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has unresolved recall or maintenance issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Soul?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on whether the car has had any accident damage, recall work, or repeated repairs. If possible, compare several listings side by side so you can spot signs of wear that don’t match the asking price.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers' favor, which can make resale a little more competitive for you later on. The Soul's value-oriented reputation and practical packaging should still help it stay relevant with budget-minded shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $13,730, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $14,701 average.
• It keeps the Soul's useful shape and value focus.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $16,933, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $14,701 average.
• It adds more standard driver-assist features.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want a strong mix of price, satisfaction, and available inventory. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better secondary path; if you want newer standard features and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
