How much does the 2022 Kia Seltos cost?

There are 1,451 listings available, which gives you a healthy pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 Kia Seltos a good car?

Yes — 4.83/5 owners rate it highly, and the expert score is 7.5/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and impressive fuel economy. They also like the advanced features and handling, which lines up with the Seltos’ practical, easy-to-live-with character.

The trade-offs are the irritating transmission, cheap-feeling interior materials, and cabin noise. In use, that means you’re getting a value-focused small crossover that emphasizes space and convenience more than polish.

The Seltos fits buyers who want a compact SUV with everyday usability, easy-to-use tech, and a strong warranty. Good and great deals account for 37.5% of listings, so there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Seltos reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as comfortable and smooth-riding, and they also point to impressive fuel economy and advanced features. The expert notes also emphasize Kia’s terrific warranty and the model’s overall value, which supports confidence in long-term ownership.

The powertrain is described as lively enough to be engaging, and the vehicle’s build quality is called excellent. Kia also backs it with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, which helps reduce ownership anxiety.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the transmission behavior and cabin noise may remain everyday annoyances even if the vehicle is otherwise dependable.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Seltos?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate and prioritize a thorough test drive, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Pay close attention to transmission behavior, cabin noise, and interior wear, since those are the kinds of issues that can shape your day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, S, EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX cover the range, and the base setup leaves some features for higher trims. The Nightfall Edition adds blacked-out styling, a turbocharged engine, a dual-clutch transmission, and more robust roof rails, while the SX brings the most upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: The LX, S, and EX use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, while the Nightfall Edition and SX get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 175 hp and 195 lb-ft. The turbo setup is more satisfying, but the dual-clutch transmission can be quirky.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and Rear Occupant Alert. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are on the EX and optional on the S, while adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist require the SX.
• Infotainment: The available 10.25-inch touchscreen includes Bluetooth for two devices, navigation, connected services, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LX and S use an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The Nightfall Edition returned 27 mpg in combined driving, matching its official EPA rating.

Which 2022 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Seltos formula with the 2.0-liter engine and standard AWD. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you’ll be giving up some of the richer tech and safety content found higher up.
• S: This trim is the value play if you want more flexibility, since it can be had with FWD or AWD and can also get the larger touchscreen as an option. It’s the best fit if you want to keep costs down while still getting a well-equipped daily driver.
• EX: This is the smart upgrade if you want a more complete package, because it adds standard AWD, the 10.25-inch touchscreen, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. For many shoppers, this is the best-value trim.
• Nightfall Edition: Choose this if you want the turbocharged engine, the dual-clutch transmission, and the blacked-out appearance treatment. It’s the style-and-power pick, but it also keeps the Seltos’ ride and transmission quirks in the picture.
• SX: This is the top choice if you want the most advanced safety and convenience content, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist. It’s the most fully featured version, but it’s also the one most likely to push you toward the upper end of the market.

The safety package expands as you move up the range, with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on the EX and adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist reserved for the SX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Seltos?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,451 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,668, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $17,670 sits slightly below last year's $19,553.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer price environment usually means future sellers may need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out.

The good news is that the Seltos still has broad appeal thanks to its practicality, warranty coverage, and owner satisfaction. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2022 Kia Seltos earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS on the SX trim, and it earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and Rear Occupant Alert. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on the EX and optional on the S, while adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist require the SX.

The main caveat is that other versions don’t qualify for the IIHS Top Safety Pick rating because of inferior headlight performance. If safety is a top priority, you’ll want to pay close attention to trim level and equipment.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Kia expands the availability of its driver-assist systems and 10.25-inch touchscreen to more trims.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,805, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,670 average.
• It offers a high-quality cabin with strong infotainment and safety tech.

The 2022 is the better pick if you want the broader feature availability and the stronger current market context. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 remains a sensible alternative because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less money.
