Used 2022 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearPittsburgh, PA

How much does the 2022 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 7.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,918 listings available, which suggests you should have some room to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.92/5, and our experts give it 7.67/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, safety features, impressive tech, sleek design, and smooth handling. That lines up well with the Kona’s use case as a subcompact SUV that feels more engaging than merely practical.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, plus some shoppers may wish features like power seats and a sunroof were standard at the price point. Even so, the Kona’s value-focused positioning and sporty character make it a strong fit if you want a small SUV with personality.

Good and great deals account for 34.5% of listings, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing value.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.92/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the Kona’s fun driving experience, safety features, and tech. The expert evaluation also emphasizes Hyundai’s complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles of regular oil changes and tire rotations, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to service records and overall condition, since long-term ownership risk is always lower when maintenance has been consistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a small SUV like this, where you want to confirm that the drivetrain, electronics, and interior features all work as advertised. Focus on condition in the back seat and cargo area too, since those are the Kona’s most obvious practical compromises.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more convenience and tech. The N Line and Kona N bring the sportiest styling and cabin details, with the Kona N looking the most aggressive.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a CVT on SE and SEL, a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic on the N Line and Limited, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an N eight-speed wet DCT on the Kona N.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, lane-following assistance, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, blind-spot warning with collision avoidance, Highway Drive Assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance, and Safe Exit Warning.
• Infotainment: The base model gets an 8-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add a 10.25-inch touchscreen, but that larger screen uses wired smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD Konas except the Kona N are rated at 32 mpg combined, AWD versions are rated at 29-30 mpg combined depending on engine, and the Kona N returns 23 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Kona is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, N Line, Limited, Kona N.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the simplest way into the Kona lineup, and it gives you the refreshed styling plus the standard 8-inch screen with wireless smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra comfort and tech upgrades.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful convenience and connectivity upgrades without jumping into the pricier sport or luxury-leaning versions. If you want a balanced daily driver, this is the trim to focus on first.
• N Line: This is the sweet spot if you want the strongest mix of value and personality. It adds the turbocharged engine, sportier styling, and more upscale tech, and the expert evaluation calls it nearly unbeatable bang for the buck.
• Limited: This trim is the better pick if you want more premium equipment and the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen standard. It suits you best if comfort and tech matter more than keeping the price down.
• Kona N: This is the performance-focused choice, with the most powerful engine, the most aggressive hardware, and the most track-ready feature set in the lineup. Buy this one only if you specifically want the hottest Kona.

Safety-wise, the Kona’s driver-assistance menu is limited at the base trim, while higher trims and options unlock more advanced features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Kona?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,918 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,632, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $17,672 sits slightly below last year's $19,197.

That price movement suggests the Kona has softened enough to be attractive to used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later because the market has already adjusted downward. Strong value positioning can help keep demand steady, especially for trims that offer more equipment for the money.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.92/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Kona earns five-star ratings for overall crash protection from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in front and side crash protection and four-star rollover resistance. It also earns a Top Safety Pick-level result from IIHS? No — the Kona receives Good ratings in all six crashworthiness tests, but its child-seat anchors are rated Marginal, which keeps it from reaching Top Safety Pick status.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, lane-following assistance, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, blind-spot warning with collision avoidance, Highway Drive Assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance, and Safe Exit Warning.

The main safety caveat is the Marginal child-seat anchor result, so families should pay close attention to how easily child seats install before buying.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.92/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 refresh adds updated styling, enhanced powertrains, and upgraded convenience, connectivity, and safety features.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,485, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,672 average.
• It offers playful handling and a value-forward crossover feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped, more refined Kona with stronger tech and more powertrain variety, the 2022 is the smarter pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you can live with the older setup, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
