Good and great deals account for 31.9% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Seltos reliable?

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, smooth-riding, and impressive on fuel economy, with many drivers also appreciating the advanced features and handling. The expert notes also emphasize the Seltos as a good value with a strong warranty and plenty of interior space, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about living with the transmission behavior, cabin noise, and feature differences across trims.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Seltos?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of city use. Focus on how the transmission behaves, whether the cabin shows unusual wear, and whether the vehicle has the safety and tech features you expect for the trim. If possible, test the car on rough pavement and at highway speeds so you can judge ride quality and noise for yourself.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, S, EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX trims span the lineup, with all but the S getting standard all-wheel drive. The Nightfall Edition adds a turbocharged engine, a dual-clutch transmission, blacked-out exterior details, and more robust roof rails, while the interior presentation still includes a lot of hard plastic that can make the cabin feel cheap.
• Powertrain: The LX, S, and EX use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower and a CVT, while the Nightfall Edition and SX get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 175 hp and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The turbo setup is more engaging, but the transmission can be quirky.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and Rear Occupant Alert. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the EX and optional on the S, while adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist are reserved for the SX.
• Infotainment: The available 10.25-inch touchscreen is standard on the EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX, and optional on the S. It includes Bluetooth for two devices, navigation, connected services, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable with this system. The standard 8-inch screen on the LX and S offers wireless smartphone connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The Nightfall Edition returned 27 mpg in combined driving on the test loop, and the owner feedback also points to impressive fuel economy.

Which 2022 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Seltos’ practical packaging and standard safety basics. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, though you give up the larger available touchscreen and some of the richer feature content found higher up.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more equipment while still keeping the price in check. It also offers the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, which is a useful everyday advantage.
• EX: This is the smart step-up if you want more safety and convenience content without jumping all the way to the turbo models. It adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as standard equipment, making it a strong choice for buyers who prioritize peace of mind.
• Nightfall Edition: This is the style-and-power pick, with the turbocharged engine, dual-clutch transmission, and blacked-out appearance upgrades. Choose it if you want the more engaging powertrain and the distinctive look, but be aware that the transmission behavior is still part of the package.
• SX: This is the most fully equipped version, adding adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist. It’s the right choice if you want the most advanced safety and driver-assistance content available on the Seltos.

For safety equipment, the EX adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the SX is the only trim with adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Seltos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,498 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,642, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $17,653 sits slightly below last year's $19,385.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer used-price environment usually means future resale gains may be more limited unless the vehicle stands out for condition, mileage, and equipment. The good news for sellers is that the Seltos still has broad appeal thanks to its practicality, value, and strong owner satisfaction. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2022 Kia Seltos earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Seltos comes standard with forward-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and Rear Occupant Alert. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the EX and optional on the S, while adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, and Safe Exit Assist are reserved for the SX. One caveat is that not every version qualifies for the IIHS award because of headlight performance differences.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Kia expands the availability of its driver-assist and infotainment features across more trims.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,796, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,653 average.
• It offers a more polished cabin and refined driving dynamics.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more feature-rich version, the 2022 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer availability of features, the 2021 is the value play.
