Is the 2022 Kia Rio a good car?

With no expert test-drive score provided here, the best read on this model year comes from the market data: the average used price is $13,747, and 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals. That combination suggests you have room to shop selectively rather than rush into the first acceptable example.

The current inventory mix also points to a buyer-friendly market, with enough deal-rich listings to reward patience and comparison shopping.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Rio?

At 69.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any candidate you like and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Put inspection priority on body panels, paint matching, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair work. If a listing looks especially clean and is priced near the low end, make sure the condition supports the asking price before you move quickly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Rio?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 365 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,063, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Rio's resale value?

The current average of $13,747 sits slightly below last year's $14,149.

That softer pricing suggests the model year has already moved down from its prior level, which can help you buy with less near-term depreciation risk than if prices were still climbing. For a future seller, though, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well your car compares with the cleaner listings in the market. If you buy well and keep the car in strong shape, you’ll be better positioned when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Rio or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.84% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2022 is a sensible choice if you want a lower average price and a decent chance of finding a deal, especially if you’re willing to screen listings carefully for condition and history. If you’re more price-sensitive, you should focus on the cleanest examples near the low end of the range and compare them against nearby model years before deciding.
