How much does the 2022 Kia K5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,337 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia K5 earns a 4.73/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong value for money. The review summary also points to smooth handling and good fuel efficiency as recurring positives.

The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian and the voice recognition system is unimpressive. That fits the K5’s role as a modern, comfortable midsize sedan rather than a sporty standout.

For you, that means the K5 makes the most sense if you want a distinctive family sedan with a polished feel and strong everyday appeal. It also has 32.3% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with drivers highlighting comfort, value, and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. The expert evaluation also emphasizes Kia’s strong ownership perks, including a five-year/60,000-mile warranty, roadside assistance, and separate 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage.

That combination helps reduce long-term ownership risk for used buyers, especially if you choose a well-maintained example with a clean history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia K5?

At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on panel alignment, paint consistency, tire wear, and how the driver-assistance systems and infotainment features operate in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LXS use the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while GT-Line moves to a 10.25-inch screen but requires a cable for smartphone mirroring. Higher trims add more standard equipment, and the EX Premium package brings a surround-view camera system and bumper sensors.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a turbocharged engine. The standard 1.6-liter turbo makes 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, while the GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The GT is the most expensive and least efficient version, and it does not offer all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, a rear-seat reminder system, and Safe Exit Assist. The EX Premium package adds cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, a surround-view monitoring system, and power rear child locks.
• Infotainment: LX and LXS get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT-Line and above use a 10.25-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and Sounds of Nature ambient tracks. Wireless smartphone charging is standard on most trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard turbo-four is described as delivering 31 mpg in combined driving, and the GT is the least efficient version.

Which 2022 Kia K5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia K5 is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the K5’s standard turbocharged engine plus the 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the larger screen and extra tech.
• LXS: This trim adds the option of all-wheel drive while keeping the standard infotainment setup. It is the better pick if you want added traction without moving too far up the price ladder.
• GT-Line: This trim brings the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and a wireless charger on most trims. It is the best-value choice if you want the most noticeable tech upgrade and a more upscale feel.
• EX: This trim leans into comfort and convenience, and the test car’s EX Premium package added a surround-view camera system and bumper sensors. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver with easier parking and more premium features.
• GT: This is the performance-focused trim, with the 290-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter engine and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Choose it if you want the strongest acceleration and are willing to give up efficiency and all-wheel drive.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, and the EX Premium package adds several of the most advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia K5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,337 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia K5's resale value?

The current average of $20,023 sits slightly below last year's $22,029.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be grounded in the current pricing environment rather than last year’s higher average.

The good news is that the K5 still has broad appeal thanks to its styling, comfort, and value. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 safe?

The 2022 Kia K5 earns the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns an overall five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, a rear-seat reminder system, and Safe Exit Assist. The EX Premium package adds cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, a surround-view monitoring system, and power rear child locks.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping system can misread pavement scars, and the curve-control feature is not equally helpful in every situation. Even so, the overall safety tech package is a major strength for this model year.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia K5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds redesigned emblems and a new Premium option package for the GT-Line AWD with upgraded headlights, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, Highway Driving Assist, and adaptive cruise control for curves.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,178, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,023 average.
• It launched the K5 name with a fresh design and a more exciting driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2022 is the better target because it combines strong safety, solid satisfaction, and a softer price trend. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the better value play, especially if you find one in good condition.
