How much does the 2022 Kia K5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,337 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia K5 earns a 4.73/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong value for money. The review summary also points to smooth handling and good fuel efficiency as recurring positives.

The trade-offs are fairly clear: performance is described as pedestrian, and the voice recognition system is unimpressive. Even so, the K5 fits well if you want a stylish family sedan with a polished feel and strong everyday value.

Only 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the best examples still deserve quick attention.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a car that feels stylish, comfortable, and good value, while also suggesting it can be a dependable everyday choice for buyers who want a sedan they can count on. The expert evaluation also emphasizes solid construction and a refined feel to the controls, which supports the impression of a well-put-together car.

Kia’s warranty coverage and roadside assistance add another layer of ownership confidence, and the complimentary year of connected services is a useful perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the car’s features and condition match the listing, since some owners reported frustration with equipment that did not align with expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia K5?

At 74.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on how the car’s features operate in real life, especially if you’re shopping a higher-trim example with more equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Kia offers the 2022 K5 in LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT trim levels. The base setup starts with an 8-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while GT-Line and above move to a larger 10.25-inch screen but require a cable for smartphone projection. Higher trims also add more upscale cabin materials and more standard equipment, so the best value depends on whether you want the simpler base setup or the richer feature content.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a turbocharged engine. The standard 1.6-liter turbo makes 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic, while the GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. The standard engine is tuned for smooth, linear delivery, while the GT is the performance choice.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, automatic high beams, a driver monitoring system, a rear-seat reminder, and Safe Exit Assist. The EX Premium package adds cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, a surround-view monitoring system, and power rear child locks.
• Infotainment: LX and LXS get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Starting with GT-Line, the K5 uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen, adds satellite radio, Kia Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and Sounds of Nature audio tracks, but loses wireless smartphone projection. A wireless charger is standard on most trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard turbocharged engine is described as delivering decent fuel economy, and the EX is said to return 31 mpg in combined driving according to EPA specs.

Which 2022 Kia K5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia K5 is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest way into the K5, and it gives you the core design and standard infotainment experience without paying for extras you may not need. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and are comfortable with the more basic equipment set.
• LXS: This trim adds more flexibility because it can be paired with all-wheel drive, which may matter if you want extra traction. It’s a smart pick if you want a practical step up from the base model without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• GT-Line: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it brings the larger 10.25-inch screen, more tech, and a more upscale feel, while still offering optional all-wheel drive. If you want the strongest mix of style, features, and everyday usefulness, this is the trim to target.
• EX: This is the comfort-and-tech trim, especially if you want the available Premium package with the surround-view camera, parking sensors, Highway Driving Assist, and other convenience upgrades. It suits you best if you value a more polished daily driving experience over outright performance.
• GT: This is the performance trim, with the 290-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter engine and dual-clutch automatic. Choose it only if you want the most power and are willing to give up all-wheel drive and accept lower efficiency.

The safety package is especially strong, and the EX Premium package adds some of the most useful driver-assistance upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia K5?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,337 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,849, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia K5's resale value?

The current average of $19,849 sits slightly below last year's $21,892.

That decline suggests the K5 has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower cost basis, which can help cushion depreciation later.

The model’s strong value story and broad appeal should help it remain attractive to used shoppers. Well-equipped examples with clean history and strong condition should hold demand better than cars with accident records or missing features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 safe?

The 2022 Kia K5 earns the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Top Safety Pick+, and an overall five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, automatic high beams, a driver monitoring system, a rear-seat reminder, and Safe Exit Assist. The EX Premium package adds cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, a surround-view monitoring system, and power rear child locks.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping system can misread pavement scars, and the curve-control feature is helpful in some situations but not all. Even so, the overall safety tech package is a major strength.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia K5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds updated emblems and a Premium package that brings useful convenience and driver-assistance upgrades.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,189, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,849 average.
• It launched the K5 name with a fresh design and a more exciting driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2022 is the safer choice because it combines strong satisfaction, good safety, and a softer price than last year. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the features you want.
