How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 12.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,190 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, impressive safety features, and interior materials like leather. The Grand Cherokee also stands out for its multiple powertrain options and strong ride quality, which makes it appealing whether you want a comfortable daily driver or something with more capability.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and weak value for money. That matters most if you need maximum passenger space or you’re shopping strictly on price, but the Grand Cherokee’s mix of comfort, tech, and capability still fits buyers who want a premium-feeling SUV with real utility. Good and great deals account for 36.5% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the vehicle’s luxurious feel, safety features, and interior quality. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Grand Cherokee is built to handle everyday driving while still delivering strong capability, which supports confidence in long-term use.

Jeep also includes three complimentary oil changes and tire rotations during the first 36 months of ownership, which helps reduce early maintenance costs. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is making sure the vehicle has been cared for properly, especially if it was used hard or equipped with more complex hardware.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has higher mileage or off-road use. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment level matches what you expect to live with every day.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. The Laredo is the most basic version, with cloth seats and a simpler cabin, while higher trims add more luxury and convenience. The Summit Reserve stands out for premium quilted and stitched leather, front seats with heating, ventilation and massage, a McIntosh high-end audio system, and a large panoramic sunroof.
• Powertrain: You can choose rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, plus a V6 or V8 engine. The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 293 horsepower and is the more efficient choice, while the 5.7-liter V8 delivers 357 hp and stronger towing capability. Quadra-Trac I is limited to Laredo, Altitude, and Limited; Quadra-Trac II is available only with Overland; and Quadra-Drive II is standard on Trailhawk and Summit Reserve, with an optional appearance on Summit.
• Safety package: The Grand Cherokee includes an advanced driver assistance suite with Intersection Collision Assist and Active Driving Assist. Active Driving Assist adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Some features are not universal across the lineup, so check whether the trim you’re considering includes the driver-assistance equipment you want.
• Infotainment: Jeep equips every version with Uconnect 5, over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, SiriusXM 360L, voice recognition, and voice text reply capability. Most trims get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while every version except the Laredo can be upgraded to a 10.1-inch screen; that larger display is standard on Summit and Summit Reserve.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates range from 17 mpg in combined driving with the V8 and 4WD to 21 mpg with the V6 and any drivetrain. The expert test drive also recorded 21.3 mpg with the V6 and Quadra-Trac I.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the value-oriented starting point if you want the Grand Cherokee’s style and core capability without paying for luxury extras. It keeps the cabin simple, but it still looks and feels more expensive than its price suggests.
• Altitude: This trim adds a bit more visual appeal and sits in the middle of the lineup for shoppers who want a step up from the base model without jumping too far in price.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances equipment and price well, and it can be paired with useful upgrades like the larger touchscreen and more advanced convenience features.
• Trailhawk: Choose this one if off-road capability is your priority. It adds Quadra-Drive II, an electronic locking rear differential, air suspension, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and extra off-road hardware.
• Overland: This trim is the right fit if you want a more upscale feel and access to Quadra-Trac II, which adds a two-speed transfer case for more demanding terrain.
• Summit: This is the luxury-leaning choice for buyers who want a more premium cabin and can justify the higher price.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top luxury pick, with the richest interior materials and standard Quadra-Drive II.

Jeep’s safety and driver-assistance package is a major strength, but you should still confirm exactly which features are included on the trim you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,162, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $26,162 sits slightly below last year's $29,930.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than broad market momentum alone.

Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong equipment should hold up better than stripped or heavily used ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep equips it with an advanced driver-assistance suite that includes Intersection Collision Assist and Active Driving Assist, which adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. The structure also uses extensive aluminum and high-strength steel, which supports the SUV’s safety-focused redesign.

One caveat is that Active Driving Assist can disconnect if curves are too tight, so you still need to stay engaged and ready to take over. That makes it a strong safety package, but not a substitute for attentive driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a redesigned body, a major technology upgrade, and strong off-road capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,903, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,162 average.
• It is the outgoing two-row version and appeals if you want the older Grand Cherokee formula.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, stronger tech, and broader capability, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative.

2022 Ford Explorer:

• Pros: Multiple powertrain options, Plenty of cargo space, Great safety ratings.
