How much does the 2022 Jeep Compass cost?

Prices have softened 8.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,155 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Compass earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Owners commonly praise the Compass for its value for money, comfort, and impressive features, and many also like the interior design and overall performance. In use-case terms, it is aimed at you if you want a small SUV that feels more upscale than many mainstream rivals and carries a stronger Jeep identity.

The trade-offs are clear: expert testing calls out fairly pedestrian performance and poor value for money. Even so, the Compass still makes sense if you care more about a nicer cabin and brand character than outright speed or bargain pricing.

Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with praise centered on comfort, value, and features rather than recurring complaints. The expert test-drive notes also emphasize the Compass’s improved refinement and upgraded tech, which supports the impression that this model year is more settled than earlier versions.

Jeep’s ownership perks include three years of free scheduled maintenance, which can help reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the drivetrain and overall value proposition may still feel less satisfying than the cabin and feature set.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Compass?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a proper inspection. Focus on the condition of the cabin, the operation of the tech, and how the drivetrain behaves in normal driving. If possible, prioritize a test drive that includes city traffic and highway cruising so you can judge the transmission and driver-assistance behavior for yourself.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the base Sport trim level, then moves through Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude. The cabin upgrades are most convincing in the higher trims, while the base version is the one most likely to feel light on premium touches.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use a six-speed automatic, while all-wheel-drive versions use a nine-speed automatic; the expert review says the drivetrain feels busy and slow to respond.
• Safety package: Every version includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Assist, parking assistance, and a 360-degree surround-view camera are available, but not standard.
• Infotainment: An 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard, and a 10.1-inch screen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and voice text-to-reply are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive recorded 23.8 mpg on its testing loop, and the EPA figure cited for that test vehicle was 25 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Jeep Compass trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Compass is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Compass name and standard safety tech at the lowest price, but it is the trim most likely to feel basic compared with the richer upper versions.
• Latitude: This is the logical step up if you want a better balance of equipment and price, especially if you want more everyday appeal without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-leaning trims.
• Latitude Lux: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel without going to the top of the range, and it fits buyers who care about comfort and cabin quality.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves the Compass closer to the premium feel Jeep is aiming for while staying below the most expensive versions.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you want the most capable off-road version, since the expert review specifically calls out its low-range AWD system, crawl ratio, hill descent control, skid plates, and extra ground clearance.
• High Altitude: This is the most luxurious version, and it is the right pick if you want the most polished cabin and the most upscale presentation.

Every version includes the same core safety equipment, with Highway Assist and parking aids available rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Compass?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,155 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,247, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Compass's resale value?

The current average of $20,247 sits slightly below last year's $22,172.

That price movement suggests the Compass has softened, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price now, you reduce the chance of taking a big depreciation hit later. The strongest resale prospects will likely come from well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass safe?

The 2022 Jeep Compass earns a three-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version comes with forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Assist, which pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, is available later in the model year, along with parking assistance and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

The main caveat is that the expert review notes false positives from the forward-collision warning system and says the lane-keep assist can feel too obvious at lower speeds. It also notes that the updated Compass had not yet received published IIHS or NHTSA crash ratings beyond the carried-over rollover result.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Compass or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings upgraded tech, a more refined cabin, and improved safety features.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,125, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $20,247 average.
• It adds a new turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you want the newer mechanical upgrade and can spend more, the 2023 is the cleaner long-term pick.

How does the 2022 Jeep Compass compare to the 2022 Mazda CX-30?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Jeep Compass:

• Pros: Premium interior materials, Impressive technology.
• Cons: Fairly pedestrian performance, Poor value for money.

2022 Mazda CX-30:

• Pros: Premium interior materials, Standard advanced safety features, Fun to drive.
• Cons: Underwhelming base engine, Confusing infotainment system.

Our experts score the 2022 Jeep Compass 6.3/10 and the 2022 Mazda CX-30 8/10. The Compass has the edge in technology and a more upscale cabin feel, but its performance and value are weaker. The CX-30 is the stronger all-around choice if you want a more engaging drive and standard advanced safety features, though its base engine and infotainment system have drawbacks.
