How much does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson cost?

Prices have softened 10.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,666 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 user-rated SUV with an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, and spacious interior. Families also tend to value the comfortable cabin and roomy feel, which fits the Tucson’s role as a compact SUV that gives you more space without forcing you into a larger vehicle.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and an underwhelming base engine, so you should not expect quick acceleration. That said, the Tucson’s high-tech cabin and comfort-first character make it a strong fit if you want everyday usability over sporty driving.

Good and great deals account for 33.5% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing the Tucson as a vehicle they feel good about keeping for the long term. The same feedback also emphasizes comfort and satisfaction over time, which matters when you’re evaluating a used SUV for years of service.

The expert review also highlights Hyundai’s strong warranty coverage and complimentary maintenance visits, which can help reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about choosing a well-kept example with a clean service history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets standard LED daytime running lights, Bi-LED headlights, LED front turn signals, cloth seats, and 17-inch wheels, while higher trims add 19-inch wheels, premium fascias, skid plates, gloss black pillars, a panoramic sunroof, heated outside mirrors, and more upscale seating materials.
• Powertrain: You can shop a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine or a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid setup. The gas engine is competent but uninspiring, while the hybrid brings more power and stronger efficiency.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Higher trims can add blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, and remote parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD Radio, and two USB ports. A 10.25-inch screen is available, but it requires a wired connection for smartphone mirroring.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, while the hybrid returns 37 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. AWD lowers the gas model’s efficiency to 24 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, Blue, N-Line, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tucson experience with standard safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the redesigned cabin. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it leaves out some of the nicer convenience and appearance upgrades found higher up.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like satellite radio, Blue Link app compatibility, extra rear USB ports, rear air vents, and dual-zone automatic climate control. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• Blue: This trim is aimed at efficiency-minded buyers and keeps the Tucson’s practical strengths while adding the same kind of convenience upgrades found above the base model. It’s a good fit if you want a more feature-rich setup without chasing the top trims.
• N-Line: This is the style-forward choice, with sport combination seats and a more distinctive wheel design. It suits you best if you care more about appearance and a sportier look than maximum value.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version, with leather-trimmed seats and the richest feature set in the lineup. Choose it if you want the most premium Tucson experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is especially comprehensive, and higher trims can add even more driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,666 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,826, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $19,826 sits slightly below last year's $22,246.

That price movement suggests the Tucson has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting additional value loss.

The model’s broad appeal, strong equipment list, and family-friendly packaging should help support demand on the used market. A well-kept Tucson with desirable features is likely to remain easier to resell than a stripped or heavily worn example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not been tested and rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Higher trims can add blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.

That standard safety content is a major strength, especially if you want a compact SUV with a broad set of driver aids without moving up to a luxury brand.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned model brings a larger cabin, a high-tech interior, and a strong safety feature set.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,068, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,826 average.
• It offers a familiar, well-equipped formula with competitive pricing.

The bottom line: If you want the roomier redesign, stronger tech appeal, and a more modern overall package, the 2022 is the better target. If your priority is spending less and you’re comfortable with the older generation’s formula, the 2021 is the value play.

How does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson compare to the 2022 Kia Sportage?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Hyundai Tucson:

• Pros: Spacious, Standard advanced safety features.
• Cons: Fairly pedestrian performance, Underwhelming base engine.

2022 Kia Sportage:

• Pros: Spacious, Easy-to-use technology, Standard advanced safety features.
• Cons: Outdated technology.

Our experts score the 2022 Hyundai Tucson 8.3/10 and the 2022 Kia Sportage 7.7/10. The Tucson has the edge overall, especially if you value a newer-feeling cabin and stronger expert scoring. The Sportage still makes sense if you want a lower average used price and easy-to-use tech, but its outdated technology is a drawback versus the Tucson’s more modern setup.
