CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
overall

Summary
With 508 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,504, 34.6% of 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid 4.9 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
85.2% of 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid stands out first for its brand-new design, which gives it a distinctive look in a crowded compact crossover segment. It also brings a fresh-looking cabin, enough space for small families, and a refined suspension, so it aims to balance everyday usefulness with a more polished driving experience. The hybrid powertrain adds to that appeal by delivering compelling performance and driving dynamics, and the Tucson Hybrid is described as fun to drive.
It also has several practical strengths that should matter to shoppers. The Tucson Hybrid offers plenty of cargo space and standard advanced safety features, making it easy to see why it would fit daily family duties. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: its styling may be polarizing, its tech can be frustrating, and it is described as poor value for money. Owner feedback also points to smooth, quiet rides and impressive fuel economy, though some drivers note the lack of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in top trims and limited availability in preferred configurations.

I was between the Tucson, Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV and Kia Sportage, and I am beyond happy with the Tucson hybrid. I love all the technology, the quiet cabin, and smooth drive, among so many other things! I feel like I got the most for my money after test driving them all, and I’m looking forward to driving this car for years to come.

Pros: Its jam-packed with features that most competitors charge premium fees for. Stylish look Powerful engine No CVT transmission Very quiet, Excellent gas mileage for its size. Cons: The seats are heated and not cooled. Heated seats are not as important, especially in cloth-trimmed seats, as the body heat would do the trick. Instead, the steering wheel should be heated at the SEL trim and above. The SEL hybrid trim does not have leather-trimmed seats like the non-hybrid model. The interior and exterior colors are limited No Walk Away Auto Lock *Overall, great car and worth every $

It is aimed at small families and shoppers who want an engaging, practical crossover, but the market also shows that only 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Driver feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many owners emphasizing smooth, quiet operation and confidence in the vehicle over time. The hybrid setup also contributes to the sense that this is a car you can count on for everyday use, especially if you value efficiency and a refined driving feel.
The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by highlighting the Tucson Hybrid’s balanced suspension and composed road manners, which support long-term usability. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about finding the right configuration and condition, since some shoppers report limited availability in preferred trims.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any listing you like, even if it looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the hybrid system, tires, brakes, and electronics, since those are the areas most likely to affect your ownership experience. Focus on condition and equipment level, because the Tucson Hybrid’s appeal depends heavily on getting the features and trim you actually want.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Blue trim gives you 17-inch wheels, heated front seats, cloth upholstery, an eight-way power driver seat, and a proximity key, while the SEL Convenience adds a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free smart tailgate, a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, wireless device charging, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and 10-color ambient lighting. The Limited adds 64-color ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and driver-seat memory.
- Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 1.6-liter turbo-four with an electric motor, and all Tucson Hybrids get AWD. Output rises to 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which makes it feel noticeably quicker than the gas model. Fuel economy is listed at 37 mpg city, 36 highway, and 37 combined, with 38 mpg across the board for the Blue trim.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, safe-exit warning, and rear occupant alert. The Limited adds a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist with adaptive cruise control, navigation, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.
- Infotainment: The Blue and SEL Convenience trims use an 8-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the 10.25-inch screen in the Limited requires a wired connection for projection. The larger screen looks great, but the interface relies on touch-capacitive controls that can be frustrating to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid returns 37 mpg city, 36 highway, and 37 combined, and the Blue trim is rated at 38 mpg across the board. That makes it a strong choice if fuel savings matter to you.
Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Blue, SEL Convenience, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Blue: This is the best-value starting point if you want the hybrid powertrain, AWD, strong fuel economy, and the core safety tech without paying for extras you may not need. It also gets the 8-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is a practical advantage over the larger wired setup.
- SEL Convenience: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale feel, since it adds the panoramic sunroof, hands-free smart tailgate, larger digital driver display, wireless charging, and ambient lighting. It is the trim that most clearly balances equipment and price.
- Limited: Choose this if you want the most features, including ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, driver-seat memory, surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist. It is the most complete version, but it also pushes the Tucson Hybrid into a much pricier territory.
The safety package is strongest on the Hybrid overall, and the Limited adds the most advanced driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.
- Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 498 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.63% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 84.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,369, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $21,493 sits slightly below last year's $23,268.
That decline suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless demand strengthens. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend points to a model that is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating.
Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to resell, especially for a vehicle that combines efficiency, standard safety features, and a polished driving experience. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid safe?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, safe-exit warning, and rear occupant alert. The Limited trim adds a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist with adaptive cruise control, navigation, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.
The main caveat is that the most advanced safety features are not standard on every trim, so you need to move up to the Limited if you want the full suite.
Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.63% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 stands out for its brand-new design, refined suspension, and hybrid powertrain that delivers compelling performance and driving dynamics.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest design, strong safety, and a hybrid that feels genuinely enjoyable to drive, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and look for a well-priced listing, but the 2022’s combination of owner satisfaction and softened pricing makes it the primary year to consider.
