CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
overall

Summary
With 487 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,312.00, 30.2% of 2022 Hyundai Tucsons Hybrid for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid 4.9 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
86.7% of 2022 Tucson Hybrid models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid stands out first for its brand-new design, which gives it a distinctive look in a crowded compact crossover class. It also brings a fresh-look cabin, enough space for small families, and a refined suspension, making it appealing to shoppers who want something practical without feeling ordinary. The hybrid powertrain adds to its appeal by delivering compelling performance and driving dynamics, and the overall package is aimed at buyers who need a vehicle that can handle everyday duties while still feeling engaging.
It is also notable for being fun to drive, with plenty of cargo space and standard advanced safety features. Those strengths make it easy to recommend on paper, especially for buyers who value a well-rounded small SUV with a modern feel. At the same time, the Tucson Hybrid is not without drawbacks: its design may be polarizing, its tech can be frustrating, and it is described as poor value for money. Some drivers also note the lack of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in top trims, along with limited availability in preferred configurations.

I was between the Tucson, Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV and Kia Sportage, and I am beyond happy with the Tucson hybrid. I love all the technology, the quiet cabin, and smooth drive, among so many other things! I feel like I got the most for my money after test driving them all, and I’m looking forward to driving this car for years to come.

Pros: Its jam-packed with features that most competitors charge premium fees for. Stylish look Powerful engine No CVT transmission Very quiet, Excellent gas mileage for its size. Cons: The seats are heated and not cooled. Heated seats are not as important, especially in cloth-trimmed seats, as the body heat would do the trick. Instead, the steering wheel should be heated at the SEL trim and above. The SEL hybrid trim does not have leather-trimmed seats like the non-hybrid model. The interior and exterior colors are limited No Walk Away Auto Lock *Overall, great car and worth every $

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

The expert review reinforces that sense of confidence by emphasizing the Tucson Hybrid’s balanced driving character and strong everyday usability.
Hyundai’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been cared for properly and configured the way you want.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use, especially the cabin tech, seat wear, and how well the hybrid system and AWD setup have been maintained.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Blue trim gets heated front seats, cloth upholstery, an eight-way power driver seat, and a proximity key, while the SEL Convenience adds a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, wireless device charging, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and 10-color ambient lighting. The Limited adds 64-color ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and driver-seat memory.
- Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 1.6-liter turbo-four with an electric motor and AWD, and the combined output rises to 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It also uses a six-speed automatic transmission, and the review notes that the hybrid feels noticeably quicker than the gas model.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, safe-exit warning, and rear occupant alert. The Limited adds a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist with adaptive cruise control, navigation, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.
- Infotainment: The Blue and SEL Convenience trims use an 8-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the Limited gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen that requires a wired connection for phone projection. The larger screen looks good, but the touch-capacitive controls can be frustrating.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA lists the Tucson Hybrid at 37 mpg city, 36 highway, and 37 combined, with the Blue trim rated at 38 mpg across the board.
Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Blue, SEL Convenience, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Blue: This is the best-value trim if you want the hybrid powertrain, AWD, strong fuel economy, and the standard safety suite without paying for extras you may not need. It also has the advantage of wireless smartphone integration on the smaller 8-inch screen.
- SEL Convenience: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of features and price, since it adds the 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless charging, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof with a hands-free smart tailgate.
- Limited: This is the right pick if you want the most upscale Tucson Hybrid, with ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, driver-seat memory, surround-view monitoring, highway-driving assist, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.
The safety package is strongest on the Hybrid overall, and the Limited is the trim that layers on the most advanced driver-assistance and convenience features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 503 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.65% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,422.73, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $22,345 sits slightly below last year's $23,682.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help you buy more selectively today, but it also means a future seller may face some pressure if values continue to soften. The Tucson Hybrid’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Still, the current trend favors buyers more than sellers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid safe?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded it a Top Safety Pick+.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Tucson Hybrid comes standard with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, safe-exit warning, and rear occupant alert. The Limited trim adds a surround-view monitor, highway-driving assist with adaptive cruise control, navigation, blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart park assist.
The standout caveat is that the most advanced safety and convenience features are reserved for the Limited, so lower trims miss out on some of the most useful driver-assistance upgrades.
Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 stands out for its brand-new design, refined suspension, and standard advanced safety features.
The bottom line: The 2022 is the better choice if you want the redesigned Tucson Hybrid with strong safety, good owner satisfaction, and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should focus on the lower end of the range and compare trims carefully, since the feature spread is wide and the Limited carries the most compelling equipment.
