The Honda Insight is a compact hybrid sedan, competing against the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, Kia Niro Hybrid, and the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and Prius. For 2022, it gets a downsized lineup.

The Insight gets its power courtesy of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a dual-motor hybrid system, with a combined 151 horsepower. Fuel economy measures as high as 55 mpg city, 49 mpg highway, and 52 mpg combined, but some models are rated at 51 mpg city, 45 mpg highway and 48 mpg combined.

This eliminates the Insight’s base LX trim, leaving just the EX and Touring versions, which carry over unchanged. The EX comes with LED exterior lights, keyless access, and start, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 180-watt audio system with eight speakers, automatic climate control, WiFi hotspot capability, and remote start. The Touring adds exterior chrome appointments, a sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and LED fog lights.

Every Insight comes with the Honda Sensing suite of safety features, which comprises a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Also standard are blind-spot monitoring and automatic high-beams. The only optional feature is rain-sensing wipers, which come with the Touring trim. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Insight good crash-safety marks, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) a Top Safety Pick+ award for 2021—the agency’s highest rating.
