Is the 2022 Genesis GV70 reliable?

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly and hasn’t been neglected despite the strong warranty coverage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Genesis GV70?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on tires, brakes, electronics, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. Pay close attention to whether the features you want are actually present, since some equipment changes meaningfully by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models get leatherette rather than real leather seats, while Sport Prestige models add unique styling, 21-inch wheels, dark-finished chrome trim, and more upscale cabin materials.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter turbo-four makes 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque; both use an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, blind-spot and forward collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, Highway Driving Assist, and eight airbags, including a front-center airbag. Highway Driving Assist 2 is optional and adds lane-change functionality plus navigation-based adaptive cruise control with auto-curve slowdown.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 14.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims can add a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder model is rated at 24 mpg combined with 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, or 22 mpg combined with 21-inch wheels. The V6 is rated at 21 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Genesis GV70 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Genesis GV70 is offered in 5 trim levels: Standard, Select, Advanced, Sport Prestige, and 3.5T Sport Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point and the best fit if you want the GV70’s core appeal at the lowest price. You still get standard all-wheel drive, the 14.5-inch touchscreen, and a strong set of driver aids, so it covers the essentials well.
• Select: This trim is the next step up for shoppers who want more equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It makes sense if you want a better-balanced feature set than the base model.
• Advanced: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds more of the upscale feel that makes the GV70 appealing in the first place. If you want a richer luxury experience without going straight to the most expensive versions, this is the one to focus on.
• Sport Prestige: This trim is for you if styling and a more distinctive look matter. It adds the model-specific front fascia, 21-inch wheels, dark trim, and more luxurious interior materials.
• 3.5T Sport Prestige: This is the top choice if you want the V6’s extra power along with the most fully equipped version of the GV70. It suits buyers who want the strongest performance and the most premium presentation.

Safety content notes that the GV70 comes standard with a broad suite of driver-assistance features, but crash-test ratings were not available at the time of the review.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Genesis GV70?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 805 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,573, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Genesis GV70's resale value?

The current average of $31,573 sits slightly below last year's $34,866.

That price movement suggests the GV70 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside than someone who bought when prices were higher. Strong demand for well-reviewed luxury SUVs can also help support used values, especially when the vehicle has a good feature set and a clean history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.09/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Genesis GV70 safe?

The GV70 is a new model, so crash-test ratings from IIHS and NHTSA aren’t available yet.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, blind-spot and forward collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centering, and eight airbags including a front-center airbag. Optional Highway Driving Assist 2 adds lane-change functionality and navigation-based adaptive cruise control with auto-curve slowdown.

One caveat is that the lane-centering function couldn’t handle every curve in testing, which limits how much you should rely on it in more demanding driving conditions.

Should I buy a 2022 Genesis GV70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.09/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 launches the GV70 with standard all-wheel drive, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, and a strong mix of luxury and tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,716, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,573 average.
• It adds an all-electric version to the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer model year and want the expanded lineup, the 2023 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2022 offers the stronger case right now.
