Used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearMyrtle Beach, SC

How much does the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,476 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, luxurious interior, and excellent features. You also see repeated positives around the strong powertrains and the truck’s comfortable, upscale feel.

The trade-offs are clear: the ergonomic design is poor, and fuel economy is a weakness.

With its premium positioning, wide range of trims, and blend of capability and comfort, it makes the most sense if you want a full-size pickup that feels more upscale than basic work-truck alternatives. The market also shows 36.3% good and great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile listings to find.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers describing the truck as something they can count on over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes smooth operation and strong powertrain performance, which supports that dependable impression.

The 2022 model year also brings a more refined cabin and updated hardware, which can help long-term ownership feel more modern. For used buyers, the main risk is that higher-spec trucks can be expensive to maintain and repair if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks with higher mileage or more complex equipment. Focus on overall condition, since trim and option content can vary a lot across this model year.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra lineup includes Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate. The base trims are simpler, while higher trims add more upscale materials, larger wheels, and more distinctive styling; Denali Ultimate and AT4X are the most specialized versions.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The turbo-four is stronger than before, and the diesel is the efficiency-minded option, while the V8s deliver the most traditional truck power.
• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is standard only on Denali Ultimate, so lower trims miss that hands-free driving feature.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in. Android and Apple compatibility are included, and wireless device charging is standard across the lineup.
• Fuel efficiency: The AT4X is rated at 13 city, 17 highway, and 14 combined mpg.

Which 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the most affordable entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Sierra’s core capability and don’t need the upscale extras.
• SLE: This is the value-oriented step up if you want a better balance of equipment and price without jumping too far up the ladder.
• Elevation: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a stronger feature set than the lower trims.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more premium feel without reaching luxury-trim pricing.
• AT4: Pick this if you want the off-road-focused character and a more rugged setup.
• Denali: This is the luxury choice if you want the Sierra’s upscale materials and premium presence.
• AT4X: This is the most capable off-road-oriented trim, with exclusive hardware and a more serious adventure focus.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the top luxury trim, and it’s the one to buy if you want the most premium Sierra experience available.

Super Cruise is standard only on Denali Ultimate, so that trim has a clear safety and convenience advantage over the rest of the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and still find a decent deal.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,476 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,722, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $40,722 sits slightly below last year's $45,204.

That price movement suggests the Sierra 1500 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

The truck’s premium positioning can help support demand, especially for well-equipped trims with strong features and clean history. Higher-spec versions may also hold interest better if they’re in good condition and priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 received mostly “Good” crash safety ratings from IIHS, but it earned a “Marginal” grade in the front-passenger small overlap test and a “Poor” grade for headlights.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

GMC Pro Safety is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is standard only on Denali Ultimate, and it adds hands-free driving capability along with automatic lane changes and trailering support.

The main caveat is the weaker IIHS headlight result, which is a meaningful shortcoming if you do a lot of night driving. Lower trims also miss Super Cruise, so the most advanced hands-free feature is limited to the top model.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a major redesign with more upscale trims, stronger tech, and the new AT4X and Denali Ultimate.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,220, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $40,722 average.
• It’s a simpler, more familiar Sierra with multiple body styles and powertrains.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,970, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $40,722 average.
• It leans harder into luxury with even more upscale Denali Ultimate appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Sierra with stronger tech and more premium trim choices, the 2022 is the better target. If price matters most, the 2021 is the value play; if you want the most luxury-focused version, look to the 2023.
