How much does the 2022 Ford Maverick cost?

Is the 2022 Ford Maverick a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Ford Maverick earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its compact size, fuel efficiency, and value for money, and they also like how practical it is for everyday tasks, especially in urban settings. The Maverick’s approachable pickup format and straightforward lineup make it appealing if you want truck utility without the bulk of a larger pickup. The main trade-offs are the older infotainment system and the limited options on lower trim models.

Good and great deals account for 33.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Ford Maverick reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as practical, fuel-efficient, and useful for a variety of tasks, and they also point to its value as a reason they feel good about ownership. The truck’s straightforward design and efficient hybrid setup support a sense of dependability, and the expert review notes that the hybrid powertrain feels smoother and more refined than the turbo-four. Ford’s three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty also help reduce early ownership risk.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is finding a truck that was optioned or maintained in a way that matches your needs, since lower-trim equipment can feel sparse.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Maverick?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re shopping a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for hauling or commuting in tough conditions. Focus on overall condition, feature content, and whether the truck’s equipment level matches how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is straightforward, with XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. The base XL is the most stripped-down, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience, including available luxury packages with a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel and heated seats.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a single electric motor and CVT, while the optional EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbo-four adds more power and available all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane centering, and evasive steering assist are optional.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. The system uses the older Sync 3 setup, and wireless phone integration is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is advertised at 40 mpg city, while the EcoBoost is expected to return 26 mpg combined with FWD or 25 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2022 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?

The 2022 Ford Maverick is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value play if you want the Maverick’s core appeal at the lowest price. It still gives you the standard hybrid powertrain, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the truck’s strong efficiency and practicality.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without moving too far up the price ladder. It also opens the door to more available equipment, including luxury packages with heated features.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the most upscale Maverick experience and are willing to pay more for it. It’s the trim that supports the most premium content, including available leather upholstery and the First Edition package.

Safety content notes that adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane centering, and evasive steering assist are optional rather than standard.

What is the 2022 Ford Maverick's resale value?

The current average of $23,226 sits slightly below last year's $25,120.

That price movement suggests the Maverick has softened enough to create a more favorable entry point for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Maverick’s strong value reputation and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model establishes the Maverick’s approachable compact-truck formula with a standard hybrid powertrain and strong value.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,679, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,226 average.
• It adds the Tremor package for extra off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it already delivers the Maverick’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for added capability, the 2023 is the better path.
