Used 2022 Ford Maverick for Sale nearNorfolk, VA

How much does the 2022 Ford Maverick cost?

Prices have softened 8.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,281 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Ford Maverick a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Ford Maverick earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its compact size, fuel efficiency, and value for money, along with its practicality for everyday tasks and urban use. The Maverick’s approachable pickup format also fits buyers who want truck utility without moving up to a larger, less manageable vehicle.

The main trade-offs are the older infotainment system and the limited options on lower trims. That makes it especially appealing if you value usefulness, efficiency, and straightforward packaging more than the latest cabin tech.

With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Ford Maverick reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many owners highlighting its practical nature and the confidence they have in it over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Maverick’s refined, car-like driving character and its smooth, linear hybrid power delivery, which supports an easygoing daily-driving experience.

Ford’s three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty add some reassurance for used buyers. Even so, you should still watch for signs of hard use, especially if the truck was bought for work or utility duty.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Maverick?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of heavy use, since compact pickups often see both commuting and hauling duty. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, and evidence of neglected maintenance, especially if the truck has been used as a daily workhorse.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL gets 17-inch steel wheels, while higher trims move to 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels. Higher trims also open the door to luxury packages with a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel and heated seats, so the lower trim is the one most likely to feel sparse.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder with a single electric motor and CVT for 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. An optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 250 hp and 277 lb-ft and adds the choice of FWD or AWD.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane centering, and evasive steering assist are optional extras.
• Infotainment: The Maverick uses the older Sync 3 system with an 8-inch touchscreen, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a built-in WiFi hotspot for up to 10 devices. Wireless phone mirroring is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: Ford advertises 40 mpg city for the hybrid, and the 2.0-liter EcoBoost is expected to return 26 mpg combined, with 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway in FWD form, or 25 mpg combined, with 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with AWD.

Which 2022 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?

The 2022 Ford Maverick is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value play if you want the Maverick’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. It still gives you the truck’s efficient hybrid setup, useful interior packaging, and the basic equipment that makes the Maverick appealing in the first place.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it builds on the XL with more comfort and convenience potential, including access to luxury packages that add a heated steering wheel and heated seats.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the most upscale Maverick experience and are willing to pay more for the top trim’s added polish and available equipment.

The safety package under Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, while additional driver-assistance features remain optional.

• Inventory: There are 1,281 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.14% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Ford Maverick's resale value?

The current average of $23,180 sits slightly below last year's $25,235.

That softer pricing suggests the Maverick has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, especially because the model’s appeal is tied to efficiency and practicality.

Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane centering, and evasive steering assist are optional, so you’ll want to confirm which features are fitted on the truck you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out for its approachable pickup format, available hybrid powertrain, and excellent value.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,928, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,180 average.
• It adds the Tremor package for a more adventurous edge.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a broader pool of used listings, the 2022 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay more for the added Tremor option and a slightly fresher model year, the 2023 is worth a look.
