CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe

Summary
With 7,150 currently listed for sale and an average price of $45,458.00, 34.3% of 2022 Chevrolet Tahoes for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe 4.75 / 5 stars.
83.4% of 2022 Tahoe models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe stands out as a full-size SUV that blends serious utility with a major round of modernizing updates. Chevrolet redesigned the Tahoe for the 2021 model year, and the fifth-generation version brought a softer exterior look, better passenger comfort, more cargo space, and upgraded technology. It also gained independent rear suspension for the first time, which helped lower the rear floor and improve third-row space and comfort while increasing maximum cargo volume to 122.9 cubic feet with both rear rows folded flat.
For 2022, the Tahoe added more useful everyday tech and safety equipment. The standard Chevy Safety Assist package brought lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors. Tahoe LT and higher trims also received a standard 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display and Google Built-in infotainment system, and the model offered even more camera views for towing. Buyers could still choose from a standard 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8, an available 420-hp 6.2-liter V8, or a 277hp Duramax turbodiesel 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
That combination makes the 2022 Tahoe appealing to shoppers who want a large SUV that can tow, carry people, and offer modern convenience features without giving up traditional truck-based capability. It can seat up to nine, has plenty of cargo space behind the second row, and is described as great for towing heavy loads. The tradeoffs are familiar for a vehicle this size: thirsty V8 engines, a footprint that can be challenging in cities and on trails, and limited cargo room behind the third row.

I love the new Tahoe! My 2018 Tahoe had some bad blind spots but that has been corrected in the newer model.

Rides incredibly smooth- like a Lincoln town car. Also gets great fuel mileage since it’s diesel. At one point I was getting over 30mpg! Awesome as 4WD! Just wish it had ventilated seats.

I am a fan of the Chev Tahoe; however, the new price point for the new Tahoe’s are completely ridiculous and over priced due to the limited available supply! The new definition for price gouging!

How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $45,368 |
| Year-Round Low | $45,378.22 |
| Year-Round High | $51,745.24 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $51,747 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.33% |
Prices have softened 12.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 7,287 listings available, you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare across trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $45,378.22, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?
Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner approval for this model year.
The 2022 Tahoe stands out as a full-size SUV that blends serious utility with modernizing updates. It offers a softer exterior look, better passenger comfort, more cargo space, and upgraded technology, while still keeping the truck-based capability many shoppers want. It can seat up to nine, has plenty of cargo space behind the second row, and is described as great for towing heavy loads.
With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful share of the market that may offer strong value.
Is the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2022 Tahoe builds on a major redesign that improved comfort, space, and technology, which can help reduce the frustration that comes with living with an older-feeling large SUV. Its updated cabin and expanded practicality make it easier to use every day, while the available powertrains and 10-speed automatic give you familiar full-size SUV hardware.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, powerful SUV can be costly to run and maintain if prior care was inconsistent.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with the history report to confirm accident status, title history, and maintenance patterns. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, brakes, electronics, and interior wear, since a large SUV often sees heavy family or towing use. Focus on overall condition and evidence of consistent upkeep, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe?
This is a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently while still moving quickly on the best-priced examples.
- Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,287 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.33% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 83.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $45,378.22, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?
The current average of $45,368 sits slightly below last year's $51,747.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you're planning to keep the Tahoe for several years. For a future seller, the current softness means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should still benefit from steady demand in the full-size SUV segment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.33% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $40,144, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $45,368 average.
- The redesign delivers a more modern feel with improved driving dynamics and technology.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2022 is the stronger primary choice because it combines a softened market, solid inventory, and strong owner satisfaction. If your top priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the better secondary path and still gives you the redesigned Tahoe's core strengths at a lower entry price.
