How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 15.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,496 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Suburban stands out for offering multiple powertrain options, a powerful engine, and a spacious cabin, which makes it a strong fit if you need room and capability in one vehicle. Chevrolet also added useful technology and safety upgrades for 2022, including a larger digital instrument cluster on LT and above, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features.

The trade-offs are that its design may be polarizing, fuel economy is poor, and it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. Even so, the combination of space, towing strength, and broad trim and powertrain availability gives you a lot to work with.

36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban is built around a traditional truck-based full-size SUV formula, and the available powertrains give you flexibility depending on how you plan to use it. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel is described as torquey and fuel-efficient, and it comes with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds peace of mind if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time.

Chevrolet also gives you a broad set of standard safety and convenience features, which can help reduce day-to-day ownership stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, complex SUV can become expensive to run if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, electronics, and any signs of heavy use, especially if the SUV was used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment so you know whether the features you want are actually present.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while LT and above add a larger digital instrument cluster, leather seats starting on LT, and more upscale materials as you move up. The cabin ranges from economically comfortable on the base trim to downright plush at the top end.
• Powertrain: You can choose among a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six, all paired with a 10-speed automatic. The diesel is the efficiency play, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest option and is available on RST, Z71, and Premier.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision, rear pedestrian alert, reverse automatic braking, lane-changing assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and a head-up display are optional.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice recognition. LT and above upgrade to a 10.2-inch system with Google built-in, satellite radio, wireless device charging, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel economy for V8-equipped models ranges from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, while the diesel is rated from 20 mpg city to 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Suburban experience with the 8-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and do not need luxury touches.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger digital instrument cluster, Google built-in, the 10.2-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, leather seats, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. If you want the most useful mix of comfort and technology, this is the trim to target.
• RST: This trim leans into style and can be paired with the available 6.2-liter V8, which gives you more punch. It suits you if you want a sportier look and stronger performance without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Z71: This is the trim to consider if you want the standard 4WD setup and the two-speed transfer case that comes with it. It is the most capability-focused choice in the lineup.
• Premiere: This trim adds access to the available 6.2-liter V8 and sits closer to the luxury end of the range. It works well if you want more power and a more upscale feel.
• High Country: This is the top-spec choice, with the most premium cabin treatment and the standard 6.2-liter V8. It is the right pick if you want the most luxurious Suburban experience.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but some advanced features remain optional, so check each listing carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,496 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,206, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $41,206 sits slightly below last year's $48,648.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the market will rebound quickly. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still draw attention, but the broader trend favors buyers more than sellers right now.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash and all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are also standard, while adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision, rear pedestrian alert, reverse automatic braking, lane-changing assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and a head-up display are optional.

One caveat is that the current-generation Suburban has not been tested by IIHS, so you should lean more heavily on the standard equipment list and NHTSA results when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet added standard Google built-in, a larger digital instrument cluster on LT and above, and more standard safety tech for 2022.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,946, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,206 average.
• It introduced the redesigned Suburban’s modern space and capability package.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped version of this generation, the 2022 is the stronger pick because it adds meaningful tech and safety upgrades while prices have eased. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 remains a sensible alternative, especially if you can find one in clean condition with the features you want.

How does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban compare to the 2022 GMC Yukon?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Chevrolet Suburban:

• Pros: Multiple powertrain options, Powerful engine, Spacious.
• Cons: Potentially polarizing design, Poor fuel economy, Difficult to maneuver in tight spaces.

2022 GMC Yukon:

• Pros: Multiple powertrain options, Powerful engine, Plenty of cargo space.
• Cons: Poor fuel economy, Poor value for money.

Our experts score the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban 7.5/10 and the 2022 GMC Yukon 7.5/10. The two SUVs are closely matched on powertrain and performance, but the Suburban stands out more for space and utility, while the Yukon’s main advantage is its cargo capacity. If you want the roomier family hauler, the Suburban is the more compelling choice; if you are comparing value and can live with the same fuel-economy drawbacks, the Yukon is the closer alternative.
