How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 13.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,373 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.5/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The 2022 Suburban is built around space and capability, which makes it a strong fit if you want a full-size SUV for large-family duty, towing, and cargo hauling. It also gets meaningful updates for 2022, including more standard technology and safety equipment, so it feels more modern without changing its core mission.

The trade-offs are familiar: the design may be polarizing, fuel economy is poor, and its size can make it difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. Even so, the combination of room, utility, and available stronger performance gives you a lot of SUV for the money.

35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward truck-based mission and the fact that Chevrolet pairs its big-SUV hardware with a broad range of powertrains. The available 3.0-liter turbodiesel also brings a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds peace of mind if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time.

The expert notes also point to a durable, capability-first setup, with the independent rear suspension improving ride and handling while adding space. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, complex SUV can become expensive to run if you choose a higher-spec example or one that has been heavily used for towing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from family use, towing, and parking damage, since this is a large SUV that may have seen heavy duty. Pay close attention to condition details on the interior, wheels, and bodywork, especially if you are considering a higher-trim example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds leather seats and a larger digital instrument cluster; the High Country is the plushest choice. The base trim is the one most likely to feel light on upscale features, so compare equipment carefully if you want a more premium cabin.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six. The diesel is the efficiency play, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest gas option and is available on select trims.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard too.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. LT and above upgrade to a 10.2-inch system with Google built-in, and LT and above also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel economy for the V8 models ranges from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 16-17 mpg. The 3.0-liter diesel is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Suburban experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want maximum space and capability without paying for extra luxury features.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, the larger digital instrument cluster, Google built-in, and the upgraded infotainment system. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort and tech, start here.
• RST: This trim leans into a sportier look, and it can be paired with the available 6.2-liter V8. It suits you if you want stronger visual presence and available performance upgrades.
• Z71: This is the trim to choose if you want the standard 4WD setup and the more rugged-oriented equipment that comes with it. It is the most natural fit if you expect to use the Suburban in tougher weather or on rougher roads.
• Premiere: This trim sits near the top of the range and is one of the trims that can get the 6.2-liter V8. It makes sense if you want more power and a more upscale feel.
• High Country: This is the top-spec choice, with the most premium cabin treatment and the standard 6.2-liter V8. Buy this if you want the most luxurious and most powerful version.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but some advanced features remain optional, so check the exact equipment on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,373 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $42,838, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $42,838 sits slightly below last year's $49,727.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean slower appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, because a large SUV with broad family appeal can still attract steady demand when it is priced right.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are also standard, while adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision, rear pedestrian alert, reverse automatic braking, lane-changing assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and a head-up display are optional.

One caveat is that IIHS has not tested this generation, so you should lean more heavily on the standard equipment list and the NHTSA results when comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds more standard technology and safety equipment, including Google built-in and lane-keeping assistance.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,902, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $42,838 average.
• It delivers the same basic full-size SUV space and capability with a lower entry price.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped version and can stretch to the current market, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it brings meaningful tech and safety upgrades. If your priority is saving money and you mainly care about space and utility, the 2021 is the value play.
