Used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale nearClinton, IA

How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,595 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns 4.28/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise the powerful engines, smooth ride, and good value for money. The user feedback also points to strong fuel efficiency for some versions and a comfortable cabin, which lines up with the truck’s broad appeal for buyers who want capability without giving up everyday usability.

The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: the ZR2 can’t match the power of rivals, the old interior design remains in WT and Custom trims, and Google Built-in isn’t necessarily better than what Chevy used before. Even so, the refreshed cabin and wider tech appeal make this a stronger fit if you want a full-size truck that feels more modern than the outgoing version.

Good and great deals account for 32.3% of listings, so there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.28/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe the truck as powerful, smooth-riding, and good value, and they also call out the Duramax and 6.2L engines positively. That kind of feedback suggests the Silverado can deliver the kind of dependable day-to-day ownership many used-truck shoppers want, especially if you prioritize comfort and strong performance.

The expert review also emphasizes that the truck feels comfortable and well-rounded, with a refined 10-speed automatic and a cabin update that improves the ownership experience. Chevrolet also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit on the house, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a lower-trim truck that still carries older interior design and fewer features than the refreshed versions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, off-roading, or heavy work. Focus on condition, equipment, and trim content so you know whether you’re getting the refreshed interior and tech you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The refreshed interior starts with the LT trim and higher, while WT and Custom keep the older cabin design. That makes trim choice especially important if you care about interior quality and modern presentation.
• Powertrain: The truck offers multiple powertrain options, including a standard turbocharged four-cylinder and a turbodiesel inline-six, while the ZR2 uses a 6.2-liter V8. The diesel gets a big bump in towing capacity, and the ZR2 is tuned more for off-road use than maximum power.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes the basic driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features you’d expect. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The Silverado uses a 13.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L, connected services, WiFi hotspot capability, navigation, and Google Built-in. The system also adds a new UX and revised graphics.
• Fuel efficiency: The available turbodiesel is described as more efficient, and the ZR2 returned 16.3 mpg in mixed driving, with an official EPA combined rating of 14 mpg.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Work Truck (WT), LT, LT TrailBoss, High Country, Silverado Limited (LTD), and Silverado ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck (WT): This is the most basic choice, but it keeps the older interior design and misses out on the refreshed cabin upgrades that start higher up the range. It makes sense only if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without the newer interior feel.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it gets the new interior, digital instrumentation, and the widescreen infotainment setup. If you want the refreshed Silverado experience without jumping into luxury pricing, this is the trim to target.
• LT TrailBoss: This is the smart pick if you want a more affordable, more efficient, and nearly as fun truck when the going gets tough. It also benefits from the swanky new interior and tech, making it a strong alternative to the ZR2 if you want capability without the top-trim price.
• High Country: This is the luxury-leaning choice, and it’s the trim that can add Super Cruise. If you want the most upscale Silverado experience and the most advanced highway-driving tech, this is the one to consider.
• Silverado ZR2: This is the off-road-focused model, with standard 4WD, a lifted suspension, 33-inch tires, skid plates, and other hardware aimed at dirt use. It’s the right pick if your priority is trail capability and you’re willing to give up some towing and payload strength.
• Silverado Limited (LTD): This is the carryover version from the first half of the year, so it’s mainly worth considering if you find a compelling deal and don’t need the refreshed interior updates.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert remain available upgrades on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,595 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,420, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $34,420 sits slightly below last year's $38,180.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you’re a future seller, the softer trend means you should pay close attention to trim, condition, and equipment because well-kept trucks with desirable features will stand out more clearly.

The refreshed interior and stronger tech story should help the truck remain appealing to used buyers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.28/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2022 Silverado Limited (LTD) got a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and earned unimpressive results in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all 2022 Silverado models, and it includes the basic driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features you’d expect on a modern truck. Every Silverado also comes with Teen Driver, which tracks how the truck is driven and produces a report card for the owner after someone uses it.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on the lower trims. High Country can add Super Cruise, which brings hands-free driving on approved highways, but it requires driver monitoring and isn’t infallible.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.28/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The refreshed cabin and added tech make this year feel more modern and competitive.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,053, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $34,420 average.
• It offers broad configurability and a straightforward, easy-to-use truck setup.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,148, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $34,420 average.
• It adds Duramax power upgrades and a new ZR2 Bison off-road trim.

The bottom line: if you want the best balance of updated cabin design, tech, and market pricing, the 2022 is the strongest all-around choice. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want the newest off-road and diesel upgrades, the 2023 is worth the extra spend.
