How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,348 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of choices.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, fuel economy, and features, and they also call out conveniences like Android Auto and heated seats. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with easy-to-use tech and a comfortable daily-driving setup. The market also looks reasonably active, with 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also emphasizes that the Malibu is dependable in everyday use, with owners highlighting its smooth ride and easy ownership experience. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for routine commuting and family duty. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean history and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, paint, alignment, and interior wear so you can judge whether any past incident affected condition. It also makes sense to focus on how the car drives and whether the cabin electronics, ride quality, and seat comfort still match the Malibu’s value-oriented appeal.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,348 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,574, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $15,574 sits slightly below last year's $17,116.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a lower entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale upside may depend more on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained than on broad market momentum alone. If you keep the car clean and well-documented, you should be in a better position to protect value when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2022 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a value-focused midsize sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a lower used price than many rivals. If your priority is stretching your budget, this year is a smart place to start. If you want the broadest possible selection of cleaner examples or are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years and shop whichever one gives you the best combination of condition and deal quality.
