The 2022 Cadillac XT4 is a subcompact crossover that the automaker refers to as a “Luxury Small SUV.” The XT4 is in its first generation, which debuted in the 2019 model year. It’s based on GM’s E2XX platform, which it shares with the Buick Envision, as well as the current Chevrolet Malibu. It competes with similarly sized luxury crossovers like the Lincoln Corsair, the BMW X3, the Volvo XC40, and the Audi Q3.

The Cadillac XT4 is a front-engined, front-wheel drive (FWD) crossover offered in three trim levels: Luxury, Sport, and Premium Luxury. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available on all trims for an additional $2,500. The 2022 XT4 is powered by a single engine option: the LSY 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder which is also in the Cadillac CT5, XT5, and XT6, as well as the Chevrolet Blazer, GMC Acadia, and Buick Envision. The engine develops 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Unique among the Cadillac crossovers that share the 2.0-liter engine, the XT4 is equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

For the 2022 model year, the XT4 is essentially a carryover model, with just a few extra cost color additions, including Latte Metallic, Galactic Gray Metallic, and Rosewood Metallic. These three join Wave Metallic, Twilight Blye Metallic, and Stellar Black Metallic as $625 options, while Infrared Red Tintcoat and Crystal White Tricoat are available for an extra fee of $1,225. The sole no-cost color option is Radiant Silver Metallic.

Cadillac offers a number of options packages for the 2022 XT4. The Battery Protection Package adds a digital battery charger for $185; the Trailering Package adds heavy duty cooling for $300; and three different floor mat packages are available, ranging from $345 to $500. The Cold Weather Package upgrades the interior with four heated outboard seats and a heated steering wheel for $850, while the Driver Assist package adds adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking $1,100. The $1,400 Technology Package adds wireless phone charging, an in-vehicle ionizer, a power tilt and telescoping wheel, an 8-inch diagonal driver information center, and a head-up display. The $1,500 Enhanced Visibility Package adds a rear camera mirror, automatic parking assist, rear pedestrian alert, and HD surround vision, and the $2,350 Comfort and Convenience Package includes an eight-way power front passenger seat and driver and front passenger power lumbar massage.

On the appearance front, Cadillac offers an Onyx Lite Package for the XT4 at a cost of $2,195; it adds a gloss black nameplate, a monochrome Cadillac crest, 20-inch gloss black wheels, and all-season tires. Standalone options are largely cosmetic items like monochrome Cadillac emblems, a black grille and nameplate, mud guards, roof rack crossbars, and a power sunroof.

The 2022 Cadillac XT4 starts at $35,795 in its base Luxury trim. The XT4 Sport starts at $39,395, and the XT4 Premium Luxury starts at $39,595.
