How much does the 2022 Cadillac Escalade cost?

Prices have softened 9.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,003 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Cadillac Escalade earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, advanced technology, and spacious interior. They also call out the new OLED screens and the larger cargo area, which fit the Escalade’s role as a big, feature-rich luxury SUV.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review points to poor ride quality and poor fuel economy. In practical terms, that means you’re buying it for presence, tech, and space more than for everyday refinement or efficiency.

With its flagship positioning and flexible body styles, it makes the most sense if you want a full-size luxury SUV that feels substantial and highly equipped. The market also shows 35.9% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels smooth, advanced, and spacious, with no negative points mentioned in the reviews provided. That kind of feedback usually lines up with a dependable ownership experience, especially when buyers value technology and comfort over simplicity.

The expert review also describes the Escalade as a sophisticated, well-equipped SUV with strong tech and a capable diesel option. Cadillac’s warranty coverage adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about outright durability and more about expensive repairs if you buy a poorly maintained example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Cadillac Escalade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electronics, suspension behavior, and interior condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect your ownership experience. It also makes sense to confirm that the features you want are actually present, because equipment varies by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Luxury trim gets bright exterior trim and wheels, while the Sport trim uses darkened trim and a mesh grille. The Luxury and Premium Luxury trims are the most straightforward choices if you want the classic Escalade look, while the Platinum models add more equipment and are better suited to buyers who want the most upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 6.2-liter gasoline V8 with 420 horsepower and a Duramax 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six diesel with 277 hp. The gasoline engine is the better pick if towing matters most, while the diesel is the more appealing choice if you want smoother low-rpm torque and stronger efficiency.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear park assist, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Premium Luxury and higher trims, while trailer blind-spot monitoring is standard on Premium Luxury Platinum and above. Super Cruise is unavailable on the base Luxury model.
• Infotainment: The Escalade uses a 38-inch curved OLED display made up of a 14.2-inch digital cluster, a 16.9-inch touchscreen, and a 7.2-inch left-side screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports Bluetooth connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The gasoline V8 is rated at 16 mpg combined. The diesel is rated at 23 mpg combined with RWD and 22 mpg combined with 4WD, and the test vehicle returned an observed 22.3 mpg average.

Which 2022 Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade is offered in 5 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury Platinum, and Sport Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the Escalade’s core appeal, including the big OLED display and standard driver-assist tech. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting point and are comfortable skipping some of the extra convenience and safety content found higher up.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds important safety equipment like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It also makes the Escalade feel more complete without pushing you all the way into the highest-priced models.
• Sport: Choose this if you prefer the darker exterior treatment and want the same basic Escalade experience with a more aggressive look. It’s mainly about style rather than a major equipment jump.
• Premium Luxury Platinum: This is the better pick if you want a more fully loaded Escalade with trailer blind-spot monitoring and a stronger luxury focus. It suits buyers who plan to keep the SUV longer and want more of the premium content up front.
• Sport Platinum: This is the top-end choice for buyers who want the most equipment and the sportiest appearance together. It makes sense if you want the most upscale version and are willing to pay for it.

Safety-package note: blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Premium Luxury and higher, while trailer blind-spot monitoring starts on Premium Luxury Platinum.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Cadillac Escalade?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,003 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $58,812, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

The current average of $58,812 sits slightly below last year's $65,014.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later.

The Escalade’s strong brand appeal and high owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Even so, resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade safe?

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear park assist, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Premium Luxury and higher trims, while trailer blind-spot monitoring is standard on Premium Luxury Platinum and above. Super Cruise is unavailable on the base Luxury model.

One important caveat is that the IIHS and NHTSA did not publish safety ratings for this model year, so you won’t get a crash-test score to lean on here. That makes the standard safety equipment especially important when you’re comparing used listings.

Should I buy a 2022 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds standard lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning on the base trim.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $54,117, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $58,812 average.
• It introduced the redesigned fifth-generation Escalade with major tech gains.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $65,576, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $58,812 average.
• It carries over the latest Escalade formula with more emphasis on utility and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and satisfaction, the 2022 is the smart default. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look; if you want to spend more for a newer listing, the 2023 remains the upscale alternative.
