What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm accident status, title history, and service records before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and any features that matter most to you, since condition and equipment can vary across listings. It also helps to focus on how the vehicle drives and whether everything feels consistent with a well-kept luxury SUV.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2022 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $36,147 sits slightly below last year's $42,095.

That price drop suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later, especially if you choose a clean, well-maintained example. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,707, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $36,147 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid option to the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of owner satisfaction, inventory, and pricing, the 2022 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly alternative and may be worth a closer look.
