CarGurus Analysis: 2022 BMW 7 Series

Summary
With 113 currently listed for sale near Seattle, WA and an average price of $43,338.00, 22.1% of 2022 BMW 7 Series models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 BMW 7 Series 4.67 / 5 stars.
80.5% of 2022 BMW 7 Series models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 BMW 7 Series stands out as a full-size luxury sedan that has long been defined by technology, powertrain variety, and a sporting edge. BMW’s flagship has a reputation for staying near the front of the pack on features, and this generation continues that theme with a lineup that spans mild hybrids, a plug-in hybrid, and an all-electric model. It also keeps the brand’s emphasis on performance alive, so the 7 Series remains as much about driving feel as it is about luxury.
For 2022, the 7 Series offered a 3.0-liter inline-six in the 740i with 318 horsepower, a 4.4-liter V8 in the 760i with 544 hp, and two plug-in hybrids: the 750e with 483 hp and the M760e with 560 hp. The all-electric i7 broadened the range further, with rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions producing 449 hp, 536 hp, and 650 hp. BMW also equipped the car with a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 14.9-inch curved infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a standard head-up display, quad-zone climate control, front seat massagers, and an available 31-inch theater screen. That combination makes the 2022 7 Series especially appealing to buyers who want a deeply modern cabin and a wide spread of powertrain choices in one sedan.
There are tradeoffs, though. The 7 Series is expensive to buy new, and its depreciation is a major drawback for owners. It also has a poor turning circle, which can make a large luxury sedan feel less convenient in tight spaces. Even so, for shoppers who value rear-seat comfort, strong engines, and a feature-rich interior, the 2022 BMW 7 Series remains a compelling choice.

This car is remarkable. It has every option you could ever imagine. The handling and ride is excellent. I would compare this car to a Rolls-Royce. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Great looks, great back seat room, gas mileage is a bit week, this car certainly losses it’s resale value quickly. MB S class is higher quality, but a higher price too. Far better looks than an Audi A8. Still thinking on the BMW 750i xdrive

Is the 2022 BMW 7 Series a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year.
The 2022 BMW 7 Series stands out as a full-size luxury sedan that emphasizes technology, powertrain variety, and a sporting edge. It offers a wide spread of choices, including mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and an all-electric model, so you can match the car to your priorities whether you care most about efficiency, performance, or a modern cabin.
It is especially appealing if you want a deeply modern interior and a flagship sedan that still feels engaging to drive. The market also shows 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 BMW 7 Series reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2022 BMW 7 Series is presented as a flagship sedan with a strong emphasis on technology, powertrain variety, and luxury features. That combination suggests a car built to deliver a premium experience over time, especially if you value a well-equipped cabin and a broad range of powertrains.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a complex luxury sedan can be costly to keep in top condition, so maintenance history matters.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 7 Series?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with a history report to confirm the car’s background and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan with advanced technology and multiple powertrain options. Focus on overall condition, since a car like this can hide expensive issues behind a polished presentation.
Pay close attention to how the cabin electronics, comfort features, and drivetrain feel in real-world use. A careful test drive and inspection can help you separate a well-kept example from one that may become expensive to own.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 7 Series?

- Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 743 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.09% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 83.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $42,889.33, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 BMW 7 Series's resale value?
The current average of $42,906 sits slightly below last year's $49,940.
That drop suggests the market has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now and worrying about near-term value loss. For a future seller, it also means the car may be entering a more stable part of its price curve than it was a year ago.
Because the 2022 BMW 7 Series is positioned as a feature-rich flagship with broad appeal, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest from shoppers who want luxury and performance in one package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.09% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $63,057, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $42,906 average.
- It adds a more refined balance of comfort, luxury, and performance.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability. If you are willing to pay more for the next year’s broader comfort-and-performance balance, the 2023 is the better upgrade path; otherwise, the 2022 makes more sense for price-sensitive buyers who still want a flagship luxury sedan.
