How much does the 2022 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 10.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,517 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2022 BMW 5 Series stands out as a midsize luxury sedan that still leans into BMW’s performance heritage, while also offering a strong mix of technology, refinement, and driving appeal. It remains more engaging than many of its staid competitors, and it should appeal to you if you want a luxurious sedan with real performance credibility and a broad feature set. 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 BMW 5 Series carried over the 2021 facelift with only minor changes, which can be a plus if you want a well-sorted model year without a lot of year-to-year upheaval. It also came standard with a broad set of safety equipment, including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warnings with lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alerts, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Even so, it is a pricey and complex car, and its technology can be tough to master.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about complexity and upkeep than basic appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a careful inspection of the car’s condition and maintenance record. Pay close attention to how the technology works in daily use, since the infotainment and feature set can be more complicated than in simpler sedans. A thorough test drive should also help you judge whether the car feels as polished and comfortable as you expect.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,517 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,375, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $32,375 sits slightly below last year's $36,185.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current softness may limit short-term upside, but it also means you are less likely to overpay today. The 5 Series still has appeal because it blends luxury, technology, and driving credibility in a way many shoppers still value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,456, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,375 average.
• It adds a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a bigger infotainment touchscreen.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the newer year with strong market availability and a solid satisfaction signal. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play and still delivers a compelling mix of tech, luxury, and performance.
