Used 2022 BMW 4 Series for Sale near Oregon

How much does the 2022 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 898 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — with a 4.89/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating, the 2022 BMW 4 Series lands as a strong pick if you want a sporty luxury car with everyday usability. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its performance, comfort, and stylish design, and they especially like the engine power and handling. The 4 Series also stands out for its impressive technology and the way it blends sporty character with useful cargo space.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling can be polarizing, the back seat is cramped, and it is not a strong value play compared with some rivals. That makes it a better fit if you care more about driving enjoyment and premium feel than maximum practicality or bargain pricing.

With 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Review feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers describing it as a car they can count on for enjoyable daily driving.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the car as composed, assured, and easy to trust on the road. BMW also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about premium-car ownership costs if maintenance history is incomplete.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check every candidate carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual car. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, confirm service records, and pay close attention to wear items, electronics, and any signs of prior bodywork or curb damage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 430i comes with Sport or M Sport styling, while the M440i adds an M Performance design and Shadowline trim treatment. The 430i test vehicle also showed that some luxury features can be missing even on a well-equipped example, so check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Powertrain: The 430i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW says the setup is responsive across most of the rev range, and the car feels lively rather than heavy.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i.
• Infotainment: Standard Live Cockpit Professional pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and BMW’s iDrive 7 interface.
• Fuel efficiency: BMW quotes 28 mpg in combined driving for the 430i, and the test loop returned 25.3 mpg.

Which 2022 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 430i and M440i.

Here's the short version:

• 430i: This is the trim to target if you want the best value in the range. It delivers the core BMW appeal: strong turbo-four performance, sharp handling, standard Active Driving Assistant safety tech, and the full iDrive 7 infotainment setup. It is the smarter choice for most shoppers because it captures the car’s main strengths without pushing you into the higher-priced model.
• M440i: Choose this if you want more power and access to the richer equipment list. It adds the M Performance design treatment and unlocks features such as the available Driving Assistance Professional Package, plus other premium upgrades that are not offered on the 430i.

BMW’s standard safety package is strong on both trims, but the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for the M440i.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 898 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,276, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $35,491 sits slightly below last year's $37,429.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if prices continue to drift lower. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is to buy well, keep mileage reasonable, and maintain the car carefully.

The model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it comes time to resell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. BMW also includes driver monitoring, post-collision braking, front and rear parking sensors, and connected emergency services.

The main caveat is that the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is not available on the 430i. If you want adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering, lane-change assistance, evasive steering assistance, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assistant, you need the M440i.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings back the Gran Coupe body style after a one-year hiatus, adding rear-seat access and cargo usefulness.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,025, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,491 average.
• It offers coupe and convertible body styles with a more traditional 4 Series lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the Gran Coupe’s added practicality, stronger current inventory, and softer pricing trend, the 2022 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path, especially if you do not need the hatchback-style body.
