Used 2022 BMW 2 Series for Sale nearBirmingham, AL

How much does the 2022 BMW 2 Series cost?

Prices have softened 9.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 642 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used 2 Series options to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 2 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as a redesigned entry-level luxury car with a refreshed look, larger proportions, increased power, and more performance than you might expect in a subcompact. It also brings impressive technology, standard advanced safety features, and a stylish design.

The trade-offs are clear: you give up a manual transmission, the back seat is cramped, and the driving experience is described as disconnected. If you want a small luxury car with strong performance and modern features, it fits that use case well; if you value driver engagement or rear-seat space, it is less convincing.

Good and great deals account for 35.7% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is presented as a well-engineered entry-level BMW with strong performance and a modern feature set. Its standard equipment and redesigned platform suggest a car built to deliver a polished ownership experience, while the expert assessment also points to a solid overall package rather than a compromised one.

The performance setup is robust, with the turbocharged engines and automatic transmission tuned for smooth, quick operation. The cost-effectiveness discussion also notes that the redesigned model’s year-over-year price increase is surprisingly low, which can help make ownership feel more reasonable than you might expect for a starter BMW.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s premium features and performance hardware can make upkeep more expensive than a mainstream compact.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily. Focus on overall condition, because the 2 Series can be found with a wide range of equipment and some examples will have far more wear or more complex features than others.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 230i Coupe is the more straightforward entry point, while the M240i xDrive Coupe adds a more performance-oriented look and standard M-style hardware. The base 230i can be optioned with similar styling features, but the M240i xDrive gets more of that equipment standard.
• Powertrain: The 230i Coupe uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the M240i xDrive Coupe uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Both use an eight-speed Sport automatic, and the manual transmission is no longer offered.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control. Adaptive front LED headlights, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a 360-degree surround view, and BMW Drive Recorder are available.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 8.8 inches, with an available 10.25-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and BMW Live Cockpit Plus adds over-the-air updates, iDrive 7, cloud-based navigation, real-time traffic updates, and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 230i Coupe, M240i xDrive Coupe, 228i sDrive, and 228i xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 230i Coupe: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 2 Series experience without stepping into the pricier performance model. It gives you the redesigned look, strong standard tech, and the entry-level turbo-four powertrain, while leaving room to add options if you want more luxury or driver-assistance equipment.
• M240i xDrive Coupe: Choose this if you want the most performance and the most standard hardware. It adds the turbo-six, standard M-style exterior and chassis equipment, and a more aggressive character overall, but it makes the most sense if you care more about speed and features than value.
• 228i sDrive: This is the base four-door choice if you want the least expensive way into the Gran Coupe body style. It suits you if you care more about getting into the lineup than chasing performance or premium extras.
• 228i xDrive: Pick this if you want the four-door Gran Coupe with all-wheel drive. It is the more secure choice in the sedan-like lineup, especially if you want extra traction without moving up to the M235i xDrive.

The safety package centers on Active Driving Assistant, and the standard feature list is strong across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 642 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,971, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $24,971 sits slightly below last year's $27,709.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your future resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than neglected ones, especially because the model still has strong appeal as a compact luxury coupe. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is equipped with Active Driving Assistant, BMW’s suite of driver-assistance systems. Standard equipment includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control.

You can also add adaptive front LED headlights, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a 360-degree surround view, and BMW Drive Recorder. The provided data also notes that this model has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned look, more power, and standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,499, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,971 average.
• It offers multiple body styles in a compact, entry-level BMW package.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, stronger standard safety, and a better-equipped used-market shopping pool, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you a compact BMW with broad appeal.
