How much does the 2022 Audi A4 cost?

Prices have softened 13.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 670 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Audi A4 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Audi A4 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The A4 stands out because it still feels fresh despite being over half a decade old, with a rock-solid structure and modern technology that keep it competitive in the luxury sports sedan class. It is also fun to drive, and its technology is a highlight.

The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: the base engine is underwhelming, and the back seat is cramped.

With 38.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Audi A4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The A4’s rock-solid structure and mature design help it feel well sorted, and the expert evaluation describes it as impressively composed even though the generation is not new. Its performance is refined, the drivetrain behaves beautifully, and the car remains quiet and unflappable in daily driving.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a pleasant surprise: the A4 impressed just as much as it did when this generation debuted, which suggests it has aged well as a used buy. For long-term ownership, the main risk is that you should still watch for wear on a premium sedan whose appeal depends on condition and maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Audi A4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean record matters a lot on a premium sedan. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the drivetrain, electronics, and interior condition, since those are the areas where a used luxury car can show age fastest. Pay close attention to whether the car has the equipment you want, because feature content varies by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the A4 sedan, the A4 Allroad, and the S4 performance-tuned model, while the A4 itself comes in 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI model series with Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. The base setup is the most affordable, but the content makes clear that the lower-priced version is also the underpowered one, so you should weigh equipment against performance carefully.
• Powertrain: The 40 TFSI uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, while the 45 TFSI raises output to 261 hp and 273 lb-ft. Both use a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic and standard Quattro Ultra AWD, and the 45 TFSI adds a lowered sport suspension.
• Safety package: Audi Pre Sense includes front and rear collision preparation, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Higher-spec content also adds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe exit warning system, a surround-view camera system, and Park Assist. Some of that equipment is not universal, so trim level matters.
• Infotainment: The A4 uses a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Audi Connect, wireless smartphone charging, and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system on the test car. The system also supports OTA-style connected services through Audi Connect, and the interface is designed to be easy to use while driving.
• Fuel efficiency: The 40 TFSI earns 29 mpg in combined driving, while the 45 TFSI is rated at 27 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Audi A4 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Audi A4 is offered in 6 trim levels: 40 TFSI Premium, 40 TFSI Premium Plus, 40 TFSI Prestige, 45 TFSI Premium, 45 TFSI Premium Plus, and 45 TFSI Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• 40 TFSI Premium: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price and standard AWD, but the content makes clear that the 40 TFSI is the underpowered choice. It makes sense if you value the A4’s core luxury feel and want to keep spending down.
• 40 TFSI Premium Plus: This is the better-value step if you want more equipment without jumping all the way to the top trim. It should suit you if you want a more balanced used A4 experience than the base model.
• 40 TFSI Prestige: This is for buyers who want the fullest feature set without moving to the stronger engine. It is the right pick if you care more about luxury and safety equipment than outright acceleration.
• 45 TFSI Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the stronger engine and the more rewarding driving experience. It gives you the more powerful turbo-four without forcing you into the most expensive version.
• 45 TFSI Premium Plus: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it combines the stronger powertrain with a richer equipment mix. If you want the most balanced blend of performance and features, start here.
• 45 TFSI Prestige: This is the fully loaded choice, and the test vehicle showed how much the top trim can bring together in technology, comfort, and driver assistance. It is the one to target if you want the most complete A4 experience.

The Prestige trim carries the most complete safety and driver-assistance package, so if those features matter most, shop there first.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Audi A4?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 670 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,877, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Audi A4's resale value?

The current average of $22,964 sits slightly below last year's $26,558.

That drop suggests the A4 has moved into a more buyer-friendly part of its depreciation curve. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a lower entry point than shoppers had a year ago, which can help limit future downside.

For a future seller, the key is condition and equipment. A well-kept A4 with the stronger engine and desirable features should be easier to move than a tired example with the base powertrain.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Audi A4 safe?

The 2022 Audi A4 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Audi Pre Sense includes front and rear collision preparation, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. The test vehicle also had lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe exit warning system, a surround-view camera system, and Park Assist.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control could react a bit slowly in changing traffic, so you should stay engaged even when the driver-assistance tech is active. The good news is that the overall safety package is broad, effective, and backed by strong crash-test results.

Should I buy a 2022 Audi A4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model stands out because it still feels fresh, with a rock-solid structure and modern technology that make it an excellent choice in the luxury sports sedan class.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, modern tech, and proven safety, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2022’s softer pricing and strong feature set make it the cleaner buy for most used-luxury shoppers.
