How much does the 2022 Audi A4 cost?

There are 668 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Audi A4 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Audi A4 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The A4 stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan that still feels fresh, with a rock-solid structure and modern technology that help it avoid feeling dated. It is also fun to drive, and its technology is a highlight, which makes it a strong fit if you want a premium sedan that balances everyday usability with driving enjoyment.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the cramped back seat. Even so, the overall package remains compelling if you value a polished luxury sedan with strong safety credentials and a well-executed cabin.

The market shows 33.5% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Audi A4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The A4’s rock-solid structure and modern technology support its reputation as a well-sorted luxury sedan. Its performance is described as refined and rewarding, with a turbocharged four-cylinder, a smooth dual-clutch transmission, and standard all-wheel drive contributing to a confident driving experience.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to standard desirable equipment, including real wood trim, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power sunroof. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base engine may feel too modest if you expect stronger acceleration.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Audi A4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a car with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the A4’s appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin, electronics, and driver-assistance features have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the A4 sedan, the A4 Allroad, and an S4 performance-tuned model, while the A4 itself comes in 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI model series with Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. The base setup is the most appealing on price, but the more expensive trims add the richer equipment mix and the Prestige model brings the fullest safety and convenience content.
• Powertrain: The 40 TFSI uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, while the 45 TFSI increases output to 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet. Both use a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic and standard Quattro Ultra all-wheel drive, and the stronger version is the better pick if you want more urgency.
• Safety package: Audi Pre Sense includes front and rear collision preparation, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Higher-content versions add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe exit warning system, a surround-view camera system, Park Assist, and Matrix-design LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation.
• Infotainment: The A4 uses a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Audi Connect connected services, wireless smartphone charging, and a navigation system. The interface also supports swipe, scroll, pinch, and spread inputs, and the voice controls are useful even if response times can be slow.
• Fuel efficiency: The 40 TFSI earns 29 mpg in combined driving, while the 45 TFSI is rated at 27 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Audi A4 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Audi A4 is offered in 6 trim levels: 40 TFSI Premium, 40 TFSI Premium Plus, 40 TFSI Prestige, 45 TFSI Premium, 45 TFSI Premium Plus, and 45 TFSI Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• 40 TFSI Premium: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price and standard all-wheel drive, plus the A4’s core luxury features. It makes sense if you want the A4 experience without stretching for extra equipment, but the base engine is the least compelling part of the lineup.
• 40 TFSI Premium Plus: This is the best-value choice if you want a stronger mix of equipment without jumping all the way to the top trim. It should be the trim to target if you want a balanced used A4 with more of the features that make the car feel premium.
• 40 TFSI Prestige: Choose this if you want the fullest safety and convenience content in the 40 TFSI range. It is the trim that best matches the A4’s tech-forward personality.
• 45 TFSI Premium: This is the better starting point if you care more about performance than the lowest possible price. The stronger engine makes the A4 feel more satisfying in everyday driving.
• 45 TFSI Premium Plus: This is the sweet spot for shoppers who want the more powerful engine and a richer feature set without paying for every last luxury item.
• 45 TFSI Prestige: Pick this if you want the most complete A4 experience, including the strongest mix of technology and driver-assistance features.

The Prestige trim carries the most complete safety package, so it is the one to target if advanced driver assistance matters most to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Audi A4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 668 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,593, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Audi A4's resale value?

The current average of $22,593 sits slightly below last year's $26,466.

That price movement suggests the A4 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now and later selling into a market that still values well-kept luxury sedans. If you own one, the softer pricing means resale expectations should be realistic, especially for cars without the stronger engine or desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Audi A4 safe?

The 2022 Audi A4 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Audi Pre Sense includes front and rear collision preparation, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Higher-content versions also add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe exit warning system, a surround-view camera system, Park Assist, and Matrix-design LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control can react a bit slowly in changing traffic, so you should still stay engaged even when the driver-assistance systems are active.

Should I buy a 2022 Audi A4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model still feels fresh, with modern technology and a rock-solid structure that keep it from feeling dated.

The bottom line: If you want a used A4 that still feels current, the 2022 is a strong choice because it combines modern tech, strong safety, and a polished driving experience. If your priority is stretching your budget, you can also shop nearby years, but the 2022 stands out as a well-balanced pick when condition and equipment matter most.
